TBH, I can't disagree. KD has not been very impressive but the verdict is still out to some degree - at least he is sticking to the rebuild plan.

As you say, the give-and-go is a play NO PRO hockey player needs to be taught. Luke isn't on the ice making the dumb decisions. Luke doesn't tell the players not to execute. It is too dam easy to blame the coach for having a shitty team to work with. We've seen the current team work hard at times and play competitive hockey it just happens too infrequently of late. Of course it doesn't help when they lose 70 percent of the draws and ops team is a SC contender.

Something’s gone very wrong if 5 years after this year the Hawks can’t get into the playoffs. I would say 3 years after this year the Hawks should be solidly in the mix for the playoffs.

I mean, in the mix for the playoffs doesn't make you a good team, imo. A better team, yes, but not a good team. I'm not saying we are going to be bottom 5 -10 bad for 5 more years, but 4 or 5 years from now, they will probably be a fringe playoff team at best, which maybe isn't a bad team per se, but it's not a good team either.

No. But it will take time for our recent picks to be really good players in this league. Most Dmen take 3-5 years, and our forwards will take 2-3 minimum. I don't see them making big splashes in free agency.

We have major holes everywhere, with no players outside of Bedard and Vlasic who should have a future here. It's unfortunate that none of the players drafted before Bedard have made any kind of impact yet. It's going to be a challenge for this team to even make the playoffs for 3+ years.

Buffalo has been bad for a long time, 5 years is nothing to them.

Agreed. Joey needs gone. Dickinson needs to sit a few games as does Mikheyev who is fast and tries but I'd rather have one or two of the above 3 players in the bottom 6. TT needs to play like he did in the 3rd period last night (when he shockingly delivered a hit to make a play). Luke needs to light a fire under his ass, somehow. He's seldom aggressive, essentially a PP specialist...

.... and can we please get some semblance of physicality on the boards? The team has been charmin' soft recently.

I can see that .... but TBH if Dach is not ready now for at least a look I have my doubts whether he ever will be. Savoie and Slaggert perhaps but I think Slags looked pretty good in his brief stint. One thing for sure, the line-up needs an injection of physicality. Any bottom 6 guy who plays like he has eggs in his pocket should be watching from the press box.

Should, realistically, probably not. Not many teams who are torn down to the studs are competitive in less than 5 years.

I'll settle for being hard on the puck which should include leveraging your body to get the puck. The second Dallas goal is a prime example with both Hall and Reichel beaten off the end wall and both being on the wrong side of the puck.
