German game was too easy they probably came in feeling a little too good

You don't think they watched Slovakia vs Switzerland? If they did, they must have known that this one won't be a walk in the park. Also, they're lucky that the Slovak's changed goalies. If they don't, this game is probably still scoreless.

hockey doesn't have to be expensive. But once T.O. lawyers start paying for coaches and extra tournaments, it's tough to keep up without having money, and poorer talent gets priced out of the game.
It's not even extras AAA hockey in Edmonton for the midget level will run you 5000$... and it's not even the top level anymore. Now the CSSHL has increased prices further. It's not just extra skill coaches, it's icetime and strength of competition that the poorer talents will miss out on if they aren't able to play at the highest levels of competition

Man, this is frustrating. I can’t believe I left my mother’s surgery to come watch this.
Hope she pulls through

How does Newfoundland produce so many good players? It isn't that wealthy of a province, correct me if I'm wrong, and it's literally an isolated island. You have to take a ferry in order to get there.
We don't this is a 1 time deal, has never happened before and will never happen again.

This is our miracle on ice.

Holloway was pretty much non-existent, I knew this would happen after the blow out. Canada always gets full of themselves when they blow an opponent out of the water

You keep slagging on Holloway because you hate the Oilers. Country >>> club allegiances. I hate the Flames but I’ve loved the way Pelletier has played.

While the offence hasn’t come yet for Holloway he does a lot of heavy lifting defensively and along the boards. Two areas where our forwards have been very weak this game.

I don’t care who he plays for, other than winning some defensive face offs he was a ghost

I've been really impressed by the "lesser knowns" for SVK like Jellus, Elias and Maros Jedlicka. They all work so hard despite not having draft upside. It's "draft schmaft, we're going to outwork our opponent".

Canada freaking outstanding defensively.
Slovaks have had one good chance the entire game.

Five period into the tourney and our goalies have put even faced 20 shots yet.

Keep playing this kind of responsible hockey. Doesn’t look like the Slovaks will ever score a goal.

I know it's a short sample but I've seen Byfield play a handful of times and I have absolutely no idea how anyone could consider him a superior talent to Alexis Lafreniere.

Totally different levels.
Also, anyone notice how ridiculous some of those people on Twitter look constantly defending Byfield as if he he’s there kid. Acting like they’re being harassed because people are questioning Byfield.

I wonder if these kids are gonna get drafted this year? With such a crap shoot of a draft these guys seem like stand out picks?

I think leagues should go back to a club system where rep teams are selected from the lower tiers, and kids that have talent and passion can play their way onto the top team mid-season, get good practice reps in and face great competition. That would broaden the base, and maybe even help bolster dwindling participation numbers.

Knazko and Chromiak have been disappointing this game on the other hand.
