GDT: Slovakia - USA

IIHF and North American reffing are completely different things.

That is a solid, clean hit, but the IIHF is notoriously soft on plays like that.

I don’t like it, but I can’t say it’s not the expected call.

This Connors guy is is a psychopath or what? You are down 2-4, have been playing bad the entire period, desperately need to do something to ignite a new spark in the team. Well, a dirty boarding foul on a player without the puck definitely isn't the right way to achieve that. I know he's a junior player but this was plain stupidity which may well make it game over for the US.

A surprising period overall, Slovakia came back big, while the US left everything good from the first period behind in the locker room. Didn't expect that at all.
Dude, relax, that’s a clean hit in any North American leauge.

Protect yourself instead of admiring your pass, when an opposing forward is closing on you from 3 feet.

I don't know from what age you are, but the NHL rulebook on boarding is pretty much identical to IIHF's and this was clear boarding by NHL rulebook standards as well.

how is that clean? The puck was long gone.

Letter of the law, and enforcement of the law, are two different things.

This is an IIHF competition. The puck was miles away. The rulebook is absolutely clear on this. Besides that, I am watching the NHL regularly and this is not a clean hit in the NHL. Maybe it wouldn't be a major penalty, but it clearly was a penalty according to all hockey standards. It was a dirty hit with zero intention to play the puck or affect the play with the puck. An act of pure frustration, looking for apologies is ridiculous.

Well this one is unexpected. Came back from the outdoor rink to see this score certainly was a head turner.

Slavic team gets a lead on a North American one.. you can almost bet your ass some Slav is going to be knocked the f*** out!

If the US is following the playbook I fully expect an 'accidental' collision with the Slovak goalie in the third.

Button and some posters with 'should brace himself'... the reason he hit was because he was vulnerable and the US guy wanted to send him to Saturn. Which he did.

Great call. Prefer the IIHF stance on this.

And 'no' that doesn't mean I should go watch bowling or women's tennis or don't want hitting in the game. There is a middle ground between lawn bowling and that.
