The Slovak Camp has started and 23 players have been named with some extras (those who just finished their season or possible addition if injuries occur).

Mezei didnt get an invitation and isnt going to the WC's. Meszaros and Stehlik did get and will play in the camp.

Line up so far:

brankári: Rastislav Staňa (Södertälje SK/Å véd.), Ján Laco (HC KoÅ¡ice), Miroslav Lipovský (HKm Dynamax Nitra)

obrancovia: Martin Å trbák (CSKA Moskva/Rus.), Ivan Majeský (Sparta Praha/ČR), Radoslav Suchý (HK Tatravagónka Å KP Poprad), Richard Lintner (Fribourg/Å vajč.), Dominik Graňák (Slavia Praha/ČR), Jaroslav ObÅ¡ut (Lulea/Å véd.), Peter Podhradský (MsHK Žilina), Tomáš Starosta (Neftechimik Nižnekamsk/Rus.)

útočníci: Žigmund Pálffy, Jozef Stümpel (obaja Slavia Praha/ČR), Ladislav Nagy, Marcel Hossa (obaja Mora IK/Å véd.), Branko Radivojevič (Lulea/Å véd.), Miroslav Zálešák (HC Chemopetrol Litvínov/ČR), Jiří Bicek (HC KoÅ¡ice), Andrej Nedorost (HC Energie Karlove Vary/ČR), Tomáš Chrenko (HKm Dynamax Nitra), Peter Pucher (HC Znojmo/ČR), Roman Kukumberg (Nižnekamsk/Rus.), Juraj Å tefanka (HC Vítkovice/ČR)

rezervní hráči: Peter Smrek, Ivan Čiernik (obaja Wolfsburg/Nem.), Stanislav Hudec (HC Vítkovice), Richard Stehlík, Marián Hossa, Pavol Demitra, Marián Gáborík (vÅ¡etci Dukla Trenčín)

The coach said that he has the top 3 lines secure and hes looking for players for the 4th line.

Discuss

Why are Hossa, Gaborik, Demitra reserve players? They are not part of the first 3 lines? Or they are still playing in the playoffs and are locked for the WC. What about Satan and Bondra? Where are they?

So I presume that Zednik, Handzus and Satan will join the camp, once their series is completed?

What about Lasak, is Parubdice still playing right now? That guy has been brilliant this season, by all accounts.

Hossa, Gaborik and Demitra just finished their seasons. They will join the camp next week.

Bondra isnt going as he has only played 6 games all year.

Satan is still playing in the playoffs.

Youre correct in every question. Also dont forget Orszagh.

What are the chances of Marcel Hossa making the team?
Slim as the coach said, he has the top 3 lines set, so hes looking for players for the 4th line and Hossa aint a defensive player from what I know.

Lasak is looking really good right now. Last night, he made 42 saves for Pardubice for the win. Keep it up man :yo:
Stana is great this year too. But Lasak will still be the no.1 as he raises his game in the national team.

Frantisek Hossa, father of both Hossa's (that sound's weird).

Ja jsem nevedel ze Marcel a Marian Hossa jsou bratri!

Is Hossa a good coach? What's his history?

Well, I really dont know his history but he's a defense first coach (which with our line up sometimes doesnt work).

I hope Supler becomes our new coach after the 2005 WC's. Supler > Hossa

Today in our first training game we beat the Czechs 5-0, Stana with the over 30 shot shutout.

Our lines:

Staňa -

Podhradský, Štrbák,
Lintner, Suchý
Graňák ObÅ¡ut
Starosta Stehlík

Pálffy, Stümpel, Bicek
Radivojevič, Kukumberg, Marcel Hossa
Zálešák, P. Pucher, J. Štefanka
A. Nedorost, Húževka, T. Chrenko

Goals: 6. P. Pucher (ObÅ¡ut, J. Å tefanka), 19. P. Pucher (Graňák, Marcel Hossa), 40. J. Å tefanka (P. Pucher), 51. Pálffy (Radivojevic), 56. Å trbák (Pálffy)

Penalties were 6 for us, 5 for the Czechs. We scored 3 times on the powerplay and once shorthanded.

In early 90's he was an assistent of Julius Supler in Dukla Trencin and National team. Later he coached Martin (not sure), Slovan. He becaome NT coach in 2002/03. He won bronze medal in 2003 and fourth place in 2004.

this information is from a couple of years ago that has some of the older information about him - on the IIHF site

"Frantisek Hossa was the assistant coach of Slovakia in the 1998 and 1999 IIHF World Championships and also in the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, with Jan Sterbak as head coach. Hossa has coached Slovakia's top club teams Slovan Bratislava and HKM Zvolen and he has also been a scout for the Ottawa Senators."

Maybe they are showing, but on Ceska Televize only.

What i like about the Slovaks is that their guys always seem to answer the bell. They rarely if ever get any "i'm busy on the ranch this ofseason" attitude from their players when their country comes calling them. They would have to be a favourite in this tournament in my estimation. This won't be any world cup this time around and i'll come out and say that right now. They will be difficult to beat.

Could be, but the only thing I know is that they are going to end up second in the preliminary group (behind Russia). Why I know that? Because I have a ticket for A1-D1 game (bought it assuming that Russia will win the group). I'm allways lucky about that stuff and that's why I'm 150% sure that it will be that way! Remember what I said! ;)

GROUP A:
1. Russia
2. Slovakia
3. Doesn't matter (I cheer for Belarus)
4. Doesn't matter

Hope you get your wish ;) .Wish i could be there enjoying it.One of these days i'm going. You can count on it.The only question is which wonderful city do i choose to go to? Do i wait for it to be in Stockholm,Praque? Moscow? Helisinki,Zurich? Decisions, decisions. From what i have been seeing though it looks like it will be Praque,Moscow or Bratislava because damn near every woman i see from there is knock your socks off hot or at the very least pretty cute. I plan to be at my most charming when i go over there. How charming a rabid Canadian hockey fan can be over there is questionable however..............ah, i'll be fine.
