The players have instructions to stay out of the casinos.I have a feeling Vegas is going to have a rough night at the hands of the 3rd line tomorrow night.

Are the warnings from fancystats beginning to mean anything yet?
Unless your the Pittsburgh Penguins. Then you win the cup.and that's the ol' million dollar question.
which parts are not performing and why? how does one make the players accountable? a late-season firing rarely solves any problems. do you let them figure it out on their own?
Wheeler?Myers is a enigma wrapped up in a riddle , have you ever seen a player that can look so good one shift and then soooooooooo bad the next ?
I am always confused by those kinds of posts. What is the actual point? That playing bad is good because bad teams have won?
Bag skate them until they put in an effort.
One game lolAbout as much as Paul Postma's superstardom.
But congrats on your sample size of one game to finally have your point proven.
did the eye test over the same 60 games reach a different conclusion. cause that's what he was suggesting. One game lol
According to former players they say Maurice runs intense practices.I think Maurice needs to be a little more involved. He's a player's friend type of coach so I don't think they have tuned him out. Just needs to be a little tougher on them.
Like time on ice decisions, or even linemates.
The Avs had the hottest line in the NHL, started losing, separated all of them onto different lines, and then kicked the crap out of the Jets .

Once you get to the dance anything can happen, but...
I would rather be a team playing good going into the playoffs with a 1 in 16 chance of winning it all ….over a team that is playing like crap that limps into the playoffs only because their record in the first half of the season saved them.

It would be interesting to see the results if you widened the scope to a "top-5" team instead of the no 1 team. I'd guess that the winner is more often than not a top 5 team.here's a voice of reason.
in the past 20something years, how often have Stanley Cup champions looked like Stanley Cup champions during the regular season?
since 1985-86 (33 years?) only 8 of the trophy winners won the cup. i.e. 24% chance. Odds of reaching the Cup finals and winning the trophy? not much better. 33%. so having the best record increases your odds of winning the Cup, but it assures nothing.
in the past 10 seasons:

2008–09 San Jose Sharks 117 Lost Conference Quarterfinals (ANA) 2009–10 Washington Capitals 121 Lost Conference Quarterfinals (MTL) 2010–11 Vancouver Canucks 117 Lost Stanley Cup Finals (BOS) 2011–12 Vancouver Canucks 111 Lost Conference Quarterfinals (LAK) 2012–13 Chicago Blackhawks 77[nb 3] Won Stanley Cup (BOS) 2013–14 Boston Bruins 117 Lost Second Round (MTL) 2014–15 New York Rangers 113 Lost Conference Finals (TBL) 2015–16 Washington Capitals 120 Lost Second Round (PIT) 2016–17 Washington Capitals 118 Lost Second Round (PIT) 2017–18 Nashville Predators 117 Lost Second Round (WPG)

That's the key intensity ... playoff hockey. We're really missing Ehler's speed, and puck possession in the offensive zone, and his zone entries, and also Buff in the defensive zone.
It's not the entire reason why we lost, but we are missing them bigtime. The Jet's need to pull up their socks and play with some intensity, and "stop" taking penalties.

Ehlers might be our only good zone entry guy. With so many teams standing at the blue line, you need to be shifty and fast to gain the line. Wheeler and Morrissey are ok at it, but Ehlers is better. We're really missing Ehler's speed, and puck possession in the offensive zone, and his zone entries, and also Buff in the defensive zone.
