Post-Game Talk: Slapping the Pinecone

Playoff spot will be decided in game against those 9-10 opponents that are in the running for the same spots the Rangers are. It's tough losing points like the Rangers did in the last couple of games but it is not the end of the world. Colorado was worse to me because they were less than 20 sec from securing at least a point. Last night - they played well enough to be tied going into the 3rd but letting in goal in the first minute of game or just before 2nd period expired (and then again right at the start of the 3rd period) are the type of daggers in the team's heart that very difficult to recover from in the game. Silver lining here is that it probably better to have this type of the wake-up call against higher tier opponents. You can see they seemed a bit too loose after the last win. Time again to get back to grinding in every shift.

Game 42, Kreider finally takes accountability for one of his MANY shit games and we are commending him.

Bar is very low these days.

Who hasn't had "MANY shit games" this season? And who has taken accountability for themselves? Listen I get it. As much as I'm a Kreider fan. You hate him. All good.

All that said, the best accountiability by a player was last year when Shesterkin said, "The goalie played shit."

It’s not tough losing points.

Scratching and clawing to grab the 8th seed and then losing in 5 games would be much more damaging than just missing the playoffs and cleaning house.

Words coming from players are hollow. You play the game to win. You don't talk the game to win.

And, really, the nerve of him about accountability after that turnover after he came rushing back to break up the Canes' chance. Like he was bumming around at practice with that pass.

Lazy, nonchalant moron.

Last night's game was extremely boring and extremely annoying, with the general boredom and Trocheck's masterpiece exemplifying everything that's wrong with the team's offense.

But they've played worse. If Trocheck shoots instead of having a massive stroke, it's 1-1 going into the third and you probably say they had a slight edge.

Vally is the only guy calling for accountability. Hank, Sam and Joe were Pravda-esque last night.
Yeah, after the first period Vally was saying Laviolette has to sit Panarin after that play he made that led to Carolinas first goal. His point was that lazy, irresponsible play spreads throughout the team if left unchecked.

Fire Lavi, hire Vally.

Why not? Laviolette is half retired collecting a paycheck. he has his Cup. What does he give a shit if the rangers fire him and let him get paid while he joins the TNT panel?

I'm disgusted with almost every facet of this team right now. Drury's mismanagement, the coaches, Meeka, Kreider, Panarin, Trochek, Laf, Lindgren, KAM, Fox and Igor , all of them.

Time to root for that Seattle Sea monster team.

It would've/should've been 1-1 like right after the Canes scored if Zibanejad didn't beef a perfect slot feed in front of Andersen by shooting it towards the waning-crescent phase of the moon this time of the month.

I don't know why you guys pay any attention at all to post-game comments.

They will very rarely say anything of substance and will never say anything to satisfy you after a loss.
I generally agree when they're speaking in hockey cliche's, however this group has lost the benefit of the doubt when they come off a shut out loss full of lazy turnovers & dumb decisions with the puck. When the team leaders are out in front spewing the same bullshit propaganda, it's troublesome & a reflection of the country club vibes.

Trocheck explained his decision to pass there. He said the backchecker prevented him from getting to his forehand and he was afraid he was going to just be able to put it into the goalies chest. Obviously he read the play wrong. I don't think that the backchecker was in that position. But the real issue with this team is a reluctance to just do the very basic hockey plays. Just get it to the net. You have 2 players attacking the net, 1 Cane and the guy Trocheck was passing to. There's a decent chance a rebound bounces off the goalie and goes in off the leg, skate, stick of those rushing players. That counts the same as a brilliant drop pass thru the legs. The Rangers don't get that. Style points don't matter. Put it on net. Stop passing for the perfect open net chance. As we saw with Krieder, even that play doesn't always work.

He should have delayed the whole situation into a 2 on 1
