From the highlights he looks similar to Kucherov with his vision and perfect passes and I'm not saying he will have that impact right away in the NHL but there are similarities. Am I wrong to say this?

Personally, I'm looking at how Michkov's game is translating to the NHL at such a high level and it's making me hopeful that Demidov's production in the KHL will translate pretty quickly too. Kucherov is an insanely high bar but I wouldn't rule it out - Demidov looks elite.

But then I remember I'm a Habs fan and we're not allowed to have offensive superstars, so until he's over here signed and putting up points I'm not letting myself get too excited :ha:

I've not seen Demidov plays enough to know but Kucherov is one of the only 5 players to have ever hit 100 assists in a season (Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Kucherov and MacDavid). Kucherov got the swag to go with the skills ...

Nope not wrong at all

For instance, at the same age
Kucherov had 1 goal and 4 pts in 18 KHL games

Thank you for the replies guys and it is exciting to see such high end skills on display because we really need it. I watched Guy Lafleur play and that guy could lift the fans out of their seats. Kovalev was the last super talented player we had and we still talk about him often which says a lot about the lack of skill we have watched in the last 30 years. Honorable mention to Bobby Smith and Mats Naslund, they weren't too shabby either.

What was Guy 23 yo? 1974-75 when he had his first big point totals.

If Demidov can amount to 75% of Guy’s impact, magic.
As you know back in those days prospects were drafted at 20. It took Guy into his 4th season to break out.

Richer got me out of my seat many times. When he was on he was electrifying

Not loving Demi’s record of 17 pts in 20 plus games. How many of the games did he average 17 seconds of ice time. Would love to see him get a fair shot at setting some KHL record. Hopefully the worst of this is done now

Mad lad , his stats are simply crazy and yet everytime I watch him play it feels like it could be so much more.

''21'' games, 5goals, 12 assists, 17points, +15 all that with only a 10:51 TOI AVERAGE.

He has the potential to be a top 5 NHL top scorer.

What? Only 3 skaters in the KHL this season have more then 19 pts, a 29 year old blueliner and a 5'8 24 year old have 20 pts, and his teammate leads the KHL with 21 pts. Demidov had 1 goal taken away early on in the season for a weak penalty call. He should have at least 18 pts. That would be 3 pts away from the KHL lead in points at 18 years old.

I don't know what you mean by ave of :17 secs of TOI, he never had that low of TOI. He had 4 games in a row where he played between 3:17 and 5:31, or 6 games in a row where he played between 3:17 and 7:32 The other 14 games, 13 of them were all over 10 mins, the other was 9:14.

This was the first time this season that he played over 16 mins in back to back games. In the last 4 games he's played a total of around 56 minutes

17 seconds was me being sarcastic. It’s those 6 games that I’m talking about where he hardly got any time to play and show his Skills. If he played more time then ins YW ad of being bullied into a contract, he’d be leading the league. In earnest though, it’s not a big deal. He’s finally getting his ice time and his stats show he’s an amazing player.

As for the stylistic comparison, it's not bad. Kucherov is probably the smartest offensive mind of this generation, and has the one-timer threat and a quick release to go along with it.

Demidov is very smart, but probably not on Kucherov's level. He's more of a creative type that pulls plays out of his ass which no one else would think to do. That being said, he also learns quickly what he can and can't do and adjusts, unlike, say, a Zegras type. His shot is pretty good but he takes a bit to get it off and relies on the curl and drag shot a bit too much. His one-timer is also not near Kucherov's level at the moment.

I think he has the work ethic to improve on these things and put up 100+ pts in the NHL more than once, and will be a better defensive talent than Kucherov is, but will fall short of his offensive impact.

that pass has so nice. it looked like he has going to shoot at the goalie before making a pass at the last second.

I can't wait to see Demidov pass like this to Patrik Laine next year.
Yeah. Imagine Demi passing like that to Dvorak :D

Most exciting prospect since Guy Lafleur
Different eras, different players but similar body types, both uber skilled, smooth skaters. Both subjected to benching, tyrannical coaches -- Lafleur lived it for many years.

However, no comparison will ever do both players justice, esp. Lafleur with the proven NHL track record. Just fun to observe some interesting data points for each, nothing more.

Lafleur really helped Peter Mahovlich become a late bloomer and Pete helped Lafleur in return with great playmaking. I hope we'll see the same chemistry with Demidov and Dach.

Agreed that most people remember Lemaire mostly when they think of who centered Lafleur but Pete was solid early after Lafleur broke out. I was bummed when they traded big Pete for Pierre Larouche.
