Andreoff needs to learn to finish.
Clifford had an overall good game, just whiffed the one shot, but not the end of the world.
Faceoffs could have been much better....

Well we know the Sharks start fast. We'll see if the Kings can worm their way into the series and eventually take control.

Yup, hopefully our guys physical play wears them down. I feel more positive after this game than after the start of the last series against these guys.

If Martinez couldn't finish the game after more than a week off there's no way we're seeing him in game 2. Gravel in for Martinez, McBain in for one of Scuderi or Schenn. Inclined to say Schenn because at least Scuderi doesn't try to take out Quick every chance he gets

Turnovers, and 2 cleanly lost draws which resulted in goals killed us. Kopitar easily played his worst playoff game as a pro.

 exactly.

Just hope Martinez is okay, and that should be some smelling salts for Game 2.

Not gonna win this series if we can't get the puck out of our end. Having only Doughty, Muzzin, then McNabb/Schenn/Scuderi available was ugly and it looked like it.

Schenn will get us eliminated. I may only have to say that a few more times.

Would love to see Gravel, will likely see McBain, either way that's a downgrade on Martinez, one that we really can't afford...why can't the SAH guys get hurt

Oh, and that's my other beef...traditionally stay at home guys are good at defense and penalty killing. Schenn isn't a stay at home d-man, he's just a terrible d-man.

Yep, pretty much this.

It's unreal how this team quickly blew both leads that they had in this game. Complete lack of focus and concentration by this team.

Sharks top players outclassed the Kings top players, which is exactly what happened during the regular season, and to no surprise, the biggest concern out of Game 1 was the porous defense led by Luke Schenn. Doughty had an awful game as well save for his two pad stack to prevent a goal. The PK gave up two goals and continues to hinder the team because we all know the Kings can't stay out of the box.

Sharks also made the Kings look silly in end zone draws. Let's see if these dumbasses learn anything from this game.

It's like getting a hold of a prime cup of coffee and right after the first delicious sip, some knucklehead spills your coffee on you. No time to even savor it.

this easily could have been a 6-2 game

I felt that all those commentators that picked the Kings to go far were going by past playoff success instead of where the team is at now.

Haha no kidding right? Silver lining.

I want to trust Sutter to make adjustments as he always has. But Schenn.....

Sharks were 69% in offensive zone draws, ooof.

I agree on Gravel or McBain in, think sharks speed won't be as much issue for them as it is Scuds and Schenn. Want to see Lucic back with Carter and Brown off that line, not bringing anything offensively.

I think I heard that he blocked a shot, so it may have nothing to do with what kept him out of the lineup before.

I think we played like crap yet we almost pulled it off. I'm not as worried if the Kings drop a game or two compared to them dropping a single game. The Sharks may well spiral into the abyss.

Typical sharks fans on the main boards, I'm not gonna bother. They already planning the parade.

Blues will still knock the Sharks out in the conference finals. :squint:

So the playoff hopes are riding on McBain/Gravel?

What is Sutter going to do? It's clear the Sharks speed is too much for guys like Schenn, McNabb, Scuderi, Lecavalier, King. What do they do? Try and win 2-1? That's not going to work giving the opposing team 5 power plays. It'll be interesting to see the adjustments Saturday because the Sharks were ready for the Kings tonight and executed their game plan pretty well.

I dread that the Sharks build up their confidence knowing how easy it is going to be to cycle against the likes of Schenn and Scuderi and McNabb and how they weren't challenged much in end zone draws.

If the top guys keep playing like this then I guess we better start looking ahead to the offseason. I know they can play better but it is a question of IF they will, which is something we've been pondering with this team going back to the final few weeks of the season and how they haphazardly performed in all three zones.

All the Kings had to do was hold a 3-0 lead to the 6th worst team in the NHL and they could've had Nashville......

Try to debilitate a high profile Sharks' player.

I think I might OD before this first round is over.

With Schenn/McNabb/Scuderi the Kings have no business playing man to man D. They can't skate and are slow like molasses. Would Sutter change personnel or would the Kings have the balls to change their defensive scheme at this point in time? Like, box + 1 or whatever that shelters said Dmen's deficiencies.
