SJS 2 : LAK 1 - This is why the regular season matters

Again, MEH.

The Kings haven't played Kings hockey in about a month. This malaise has transferred over to the Playoff's. Muzzin hasn't been good for about a month now as well, he has just been average.

If Kopitar/Doughty/Toffoli/Lucic/Carter continue to be no shows, this series is over.

Be dissatisfied with Quick if you like, all I said is he's not THE problem. Obviously if he went supernova we'd be fine--but counting on that is foolish. "Blaming" others doesn't absolve Quick completely.

Honestly KPC you just want people to go full nuclear on Quick and it's not going to happen when there are so many other, clear, more prominent issues.

Not blaming it solely on Quick, but there are so many Quick apologists on these boards it's ridiculous.

Of course he's not getting help from our garbage D, I am fully aware of this. If Quick would make that one extra save per game, we wouldn't even have a discussion today.

Anyways, I'm mad, it's a rant, I apologize.

I'll enjoy the rest of the series passively
 
Quick walks a fine line between athlete and goalie. When it's 50/50, you can't get anything by him. When he's too much athlete, he gets into trouble, like on the Couture goal. Just flying all over the place, putting himself out of position.

I think Quick has the tendency to do this (scramble and flop) when the team isn't scoring. He feels like he has to do too much - and it backfires

Get him a lead for a change!

However (my gripes), when the puck is near the goal line by the boards (nothing to shoot at), he needs to stand up, instead of staying on his knees. All he does is leave the top wide open. ... and his paddle is on the ice, which means he can't break up a pass, which leads to...

...he can't poke check to save his life.
 
The whole team needs to elevate their game. Sutter is a master at in-series adjustments. Game 3 will tell the story. The Kings may not win it, but we'll see the extent of what Sutter was able to adjust - hopefully it's enough.
 
Quick will have his jersey hanging in the rafters one day at Staples. He's the greatest goalie this team has ever had and he deserves our confidence and support. I'm no "apologist", ask anyone who votes for Vezina or Con Smyth trophies what they think of 32.

Completely Agree, then add:

Lombardi not willing to address our massive hole on the defence since Voynov blew up is by far more of a problem then Quick.

Toffoli playing with his head up his rear, is more of a problem then Quick.

Kopitar playing like a sleepy giant, is more of a problem than Quick

Doughty looks worn out, hard to carry 5 others, even Muzzin looks like crap.

Skill and size is taking over for Size and skill. Lombardi has us lacking there. Need a Matty Norstrom
 
In the playoffs this team will win and lose with Quick. He has the skil and determination to lead this team even 2 down with an AHL defence

Game 3 is critical. See what Sutter does. After 2 Stanely Cups I should be more sold on him then I am.
 
Is hold maybe rephrase it a bit. He was masterful in the 3 cup runs but I am not sold on the fact our style has not changed a bit and others have had numerous years to dissect it and counter re- act.

The boys seem to love him but I would love to see a surprising twist to add offence as I hate our d corps.

Hockey systems are like 80 years old, I don't know why this has to keep being pointed out.

The NHL figured out the LA Kings in 2008-09 when Lombardi and Terry Murray had the system in place.

Sutter has made little subtle changes too it over the years, but it is still largely Terry Murray/Lombardi Hockey.

The only thing that matters= Can the Kings top players beat the Sharks top players consistently, so far, NO.
 
Still go back to that Mike Babcock quote re: the Kings.

"Good teams don't trick you; good teams just beat you."

I trust Sutter to make the adjustments. We've been down in a series before. Yes I know this year is different. It's always different, though. I trust Sutter, our best players, and history. Good things will happen. It may not be a series win, but we're not going out with our tails between our legs, either.
 
If the Kings solve the Sharks top guys, the Sharks aren't performing in the bottom group enough. The Kings bottom guys are actually doing really well right now. Just need the top guys to be there with them and the Sharks fold.

Yeah he deservedly gets the benefit of the doubt; still, I'm not happy he ran Kopitar, Quick and Doughty into the ground chasing a meaningless division title. BB may be having regrets as well about his team.
 
We have 3 guys that can take over a series. Kopitar when he plays like a bull, Doughty when he goes Beast mode and Quick when he gets mad. Just need one of them to do their thing.
