Or imagine if Detroit's 2nd, 3rd and 4th line were simply league average. They'd be fighting for the division.

2nd line and 2nd pair. Most 4th lines are just warm bodies like the Wings. The Wings have virtually no secondary scoring this season. Every player except Ed that's not on PP1 has 8 or less points.

That is the thing i imagine every time i go to sleep dont worry. BUT also im calling out the coaching at this point, 55 goals for in 20 games isn't bad its kick everyone bad.

Tied for 4th worst in the league in G/G.

Tied for 4th worst in the league in G/G.
And tied for 2nd last in Goals for overall. Last season was such a anomaly, it was expected that the shooting% would not be the same, but going from "high scoring" team to this snoozefest is insane to me. Lalonde has had 22 games now for his "new system", and if the system is let's try to play 0-0 and whoever wins on the shootout gets the points then im done. The team will not win the cup this year, you have pieces to play entertaining games, either do that or just tank and stop this absolute poolsheet 1 goal per game shit.

This is the first 20 games and they are this good. They are going to play for the next 8, 10, 12 years together. It could end up being over a thousand games together.

That is something to be very excited about.

I hope Ed keeps improving and him and Seider play together for a very long time. Scary to think about their potential with how good their analytics look already... potential cheat code in a year or two.

It's awesome to see them doing so well defensively. It just sucks that our team is so inept at forward (2 lines that are basically replacement level) that two super talented defensemen like these guys aren't able to put up more points in today's NHL due to lack of support.

Exactly. How many nice plays do either of them make that get wasted because Copp, Ras or Veleno, etc, are the ones receiving the pass or play?

Yeah, then put him on the freakin' PP next season after he signs. There's also ASP to consider hopefully....

But Gus has to play there when healthy and Petry will still need to play there just cause.

I too see him looking better than Seider at times. He's been a treat to watch, particularly with the minimal growing pains he's had. Simple game and I love seeing him up in the rush too taking chances there. Big reason why he's on pace for 40 points is his decision making with the puck offensively

Sweden will regret not selecting him for the Four Nation tournament.

Over 26 minutes last night, without powerplay time. Granted, one shift of nearly 3 minutes and another of 2 minutes will add up quickly.

Seider abandoned his physicality after his rookie season, not sure why. Maybe coaches told him to in order to preserve his body. He hasnt looked as confident with the puck since.

Edvinsson looks incredible. I cant believe he was in GR last year.

Seider also abandoned his puck rushing when Lalonde came on board.

I’m thinking maybe this coach has something to do with it.

His first pass is awesome, it’s what we have lacked for years. The simple ability to make an outlet pass. That rush in OT was exciting. He can absolutely turn on the jets but it’s effortless.

He is the best passer on the team and it isn't really close. With that said playing with Seider is helping him. He is definitely playing the more offensive role on the line (deservedly) but it does mean Seider is in the more shut down role. Nothing wrong with that as that pairing is very successful and both support each other well. It's nice to not see Seider just get hung out to dry by his partner all the time. Ed jumps up but is much smarter about it than Seider's past partners. I'm hoping to see Seider's offensive rushing game/ physical game pop out some again as the season rolls along if this pair continues as he finally has a partner that can actually cover him.

I think ultimately they both end up anchoring their own pairs as the Wings could kill most of a game if we can get them both semi competent partners. They are both too good offensively and defensively to not let them control a pairing unless we need to shut it down with 5 min left.

Ed definitely has Hedman potential. I thought JayBo was his floor and I think he is already at that threshold in his 1st season.

Out of Hedman, Forsling, Karlsson, Andersson, Dahlin, Ekholm, and Brodin - who would you cut?

I think the same. I mean shit, even Karlsson is just a legacy pick at this stage of his career.

BUT, those guys all have hundreds of games played. They've played at other best on best tournaments before.

Ed will be a mainstay for Sweden blue line in the future, he's just too new currently.
