Simon Edvinsson

Brodin
EK

Those were the two names I gravitated to as well.

EK is probably still their top PP guy and was named to the team back in the summer. Brodin is playing hard minutes for the top team in the league.

I think Ed is fully capable of playing in this tourny but not sure there really was a spot for him.

Edvinsson has 12 EVP, good for 2nd on the team among...everybody, including Larkin and Cat. Our EVP leader is Raymond with just 13.

We have 37 even strength goals this season if I’m not mistaken. So Edvinsson has been a part of almost a THIRD of our ESG.

Is that insane to anyone else?? Kid is becoming a star before our eyes.

On pace for getting a Seider contract in 26/27. At that time, all the D veterans contracts will have expired, which means that we won’t have to do anything panicky to pay Ed.

Yeah, if he signs this year, we can probably get him for a hair or two less than Seider. Next year he could eclipse Seider. If he’s putting up 0.5 ppg this year with no PP time, and he gets PP time next year, he could be looking at 55-60 points. Get him signed before he costs 8 figures.

At times it feels like the rebuild hasn't gone anywhere, but I think we fail to truly appreciate what we have in Seider and Ed and how far that will take us. While the middle and bottom pairs clearly need to be blown up, I would much rather go looking for mid-pair and bottom-pair defensemen in the draft/free agency/trade market, than top-pair talent like Seider and Ed.

The Yzerplan could very well be vindicated once Ed, Mo, ASP, and Cossa are playing together nightly.

I like Mo and Ed together, but I could see a pairing of Ed-ASP becoming Lidstrom-Rafalski-esque, where they’re showing up nightly on the scoresheet with both the primary and secondary assists on a goal they got by springing a forward.

Really hoping we get a top 4 LD in the next year … then you can really see things taking shape.

Yeah, they need to find their Brad Stuart to complement the Big 3. A more recent comparison would be a guy like Chris Tanev.
The dream would be going all homegrown and having Wallinder grow into that role. I’d settle for Marcus Petterson in the meantime.

Not just seider and Ed. Rayzor is looking like a legit all star. And cossa and Augustine could be potential franchise goalies.

People just panic because they have no patience. Yzerman had to rebuild the entire prospect pool which takes around 7 years to actually start seeing that team on ice.

I’d add that while it’s early, Kasper is showing the potential for more offense than most were expecting.

I think Mario Ferraro would be a good target as well.

He can't get a contract extension until the end of this season, July 1st. From both a calendar and hocket season perspective, that's next year.

Contracts can only be extended during the last season of the existing contract. It's in the CBA.

since it's painfully obvious that this is going to be the next thing that we all lose our minds over, i'd just like to say that edvinson's agent would have to be flat out incompetent to allow simon to extend before he plays the last year of his elc. i could see him putting up 80 points next year. brother is going to get paaaaaaaaaaaaaaid

guessing SY aint signing Ed during off season. He would rather use upcoming contract to motivate ed to improve than try n sign him early IMO judging by he has handled previous contracts.

80 points is absurd. He’s gonna get paid but that’s an insane thing to say.

i may or may not have been drunk when i wrote that

what i should have said is, i could see him putting up 100 points next year. brother is going to get a reasonable contract that facilitates building a multi-championship dynasty for the next 3 decaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaades

I lost the BC fan Club President gig but I have been leading this charge. This kid is special. Early on in this thread I said the discussion would be about how he was the clear Calder winner if not for a single game played over the limit. I also said, within 2 years he would be seen as on par or better than MO. This guy's game is outstanding. What he is doing as a rookie.... eerrr 1st year player is sensational.

The so called hyperbole of my early posts is becoming a reality today.
I have said in other threads, but want to say it here. By season's end the experts will be saying this guy would have been a lock for the Calder.

He is already an anchor top 4 D'man for Detroit and, likely any team in the NHL. At day's end, he will be better than Mo.

He is UNREAL good.

Mo and Simon ...... WOW! They could be an all-star pairing year over year over year.

Just a side note here. Simon's weight gain secret.. avos
