Ghost was pretty much brought on to nerf Seider's PP time ahead of his contract negotiation.

Gustafsson honestly probably not much different, though Edvinsson will probably never really get there because of ASP's arrival.

Seider and ASP could be both on the same Powerplay tbh. That’s what I would do.

If we sign him this year there’s no way he makes over what Seider makes. It’s just not going to happen, the team has set that precedent with Larkin and it’s now set with Seider too. The guys aren’t going to want to push for more than their friends/leaders of the team. I bet he gets 7.5-8 x 8 this off season.

With a quickly rising cap now, this mindset cannot continue. It could be no more than leaders percentage of cap at the time of signing. But any agent who falls for not letting a guy get paid after the cap rises 15m to keep players on friendly terms deserves to be let go.

Give him huge signing bonus's first few years to entice the deal ... as great as hes Been he doesnt have a full nhl season under him so its still a risk. I'd stil do it

Yeah, but you could make that case for guys like Seider/Faber/Sanderson too.

I think a lot of these guys don't wanna pass on $60M and risk getting hurt.

Nobody wants to be Klingberg.

Points seem to be much easier for teams to ascribe contract value to compared to individual defensive play. Faber has scored a bit more than Edvinsson but has the reputation of being a top defensive player. If they are roughly comparable with a higher cap it wouldn't be surprising if that is the sort of long term deal Edvinsson's agent targets. If Edvinsson is the player that Detroit fans say he is he's worth it. In a few years $8.5-$9 mil won't be outrageous.

Never said he'd make more than Seider. But "Better production" is a bad argument in negotiations when Edvinsson gets 0 PP opportunity while outproducing Seider 5 on 5. And the cap inflating heavily is absolutely a factor.

I don't think he'd make more than Seider if he signs in 2025. If he waits to sign until 2026 and has another season under his belt, plus another cap hike, I think there's a chance, but no guarantee.

Yzerman would just say he’s not good enough to run a powerplay then. Points are points, doesn’t matter where it comes from or why. It just shows you’re trusted enough to be on the ice in those situations.
