Funny how you subtract 4 of the team's best 6 forwards, the top goalie (Who is a difference with his replacement of a goal a game on average) and 3 of the team's best 4 defensemen, and we don't win.

I'm going to tell myself the kid line still barely saw the ice in a Quadruple-A lineup because coach didn't want them to get hurt. That's our story and we're leaving it at that.

It will now go into my back pocket, out of sight. It will be in my pocket should it need to be used. Gallant has been warned.

Yeah, I've got no thoughts on any of the last 3 games. Boston game was without an entire lines worth of forwards in Chytil, Kakko, and Copp, Canes game they played a really good first before losing Copp and Panarin and playing 10 forwards over half the game, and tonight's lineup was worse than a lot of preseason lineups I've seen.

I saw it brought up that this could impact home ice down the line and yeah I guess it could but you also have to get there. I don't need Zibanejad catching a rut in the ice in an essentially meaningless game v. Montreal so that we might have home ice in a hypothetical 3rd round matchup.

The thing is, we outplayed them and played well enough to win even with half the lineup. Georgiev is THAT bad.

He's been awful this season.

That said, NYR's goals 2 and 3 tonight were also goals that, had they been on a NYR goaltender, we would have been miffed.

Not every goalie in this league is Shesterkin.

Don't see them winning on Friday night, even with the Caps on a back to back, unless they roll out a few guys that sat today. I'd expect they don't.

So with that, the Caps play tomorrow against the Islanders. I don't think it is going to matter what Pittsburgh does, the Caps will probably win both games.

Very hard to guage the matchup. The last time they played was in February and this one won't mean much at all. The other was opening night. Have a better feeling about how game vs Pitt will be played.

Goal 3 was horrendous. Goal 2 was a snipe, but I guess a snipe as much as the Petry goals were. It's not so much the quality of goals against tonight, but the timing.

The cantaloupe is better

fair point that wasnt fair to cantaloupe....i dont know what is fair he reacts to pucks like steven hawking

but he never fails to project body language blaming teammates. this game meant nothing so who cares but cot damn that guy is the one thing impossible to like on a team thats impossible not to like. debbie downer in goalie pads

We had a chance to win the division. Now we don't. We're locked into the two seed.

Potentially getting guys hurt for an imaginary ECF scenario against four mystery opponents is six shades of asinine.
Not getting home ice could save me some money on tickets for round 3. The Rangers are just looking out for their fans and their wallets.

Round 1 is perfect since it is the cheapest. Round 3 is really expensive. Let's me push some of that onto the Cup Final and the memorabilia for the Cup win.

Not only that but we were actually pretty awful in the third and two goalies weren't stopping the winner. It was clean across the royal road and the guy had a ring around him to step down and shoot.

We absolutely dominated the first 40 minutes and then it was one of those "we shot our load" sort of games.

Had more of our talent been in the lineup, we world have capitalized on our control of the play early.

I think I've seen people more excited when their dogs died than Georgiev when Igor wins a game.

BTW, it's hard for me to say that the Rangers are better than the Canes but imagine if we had Raanta as the backup rather than Georgiev.
