I think, for me, the worst thing about this game is the Jets are capable of much better effort. The Flyers are not very good, and the Jets should've been able to crap all over them, based on their play over the past ten games. Awful, awful game that looked for all purposes like an initial pre-season tilt.

And that PP? It resembled a major junior level of effectiveness (like from when I played when the PK was always static), and is so easy to defend. Where is the forward blocking up the crease, and why is the only option to always throw it back to the points for a shot? If the object is to rely on the point men for the shots, then why aren't the forwards clogging up the lanes for screens? I'm no coach, but I think I could get this abysmal PP to be more effective.

So this is the list of PP points for ATL in 2010/11 when they were 18.3% and 11th in the league which is pretty decent. Even at that avg thats like 16th in this years NHL stats.

By the looks of it, the solution is clearly to put Thorburn on the PP and take Wheeler out. But kidding aside, you can't tell me that its a personnel issue. It's definitely a coaching issue.

The Jets have scored 11 PP goals given up 5 SH goals (the most in the league). So, overall, they are only +6 on the power play

It's actually even worse than it appears. 3 of our PP goals have been 5 on 3. So 5 on 4 we're only plus 3.

I wonder if having the most passive PK on the league to practice against is contributing to our PP trouble?

Can you imagine how many wins we would have if we had just an AVERAGE PP?

How do you have 11 GF and 5 GA on a GD PP??? It's just sad.

I'm sorry but this is seriously a coaching issue. We have better talent then this for special teams. It shouldn't be this atrocious. Obviously we've had some bad luck with the puck just not finding the back of the net, but there are plenty of other issues without considering "bad luck".

@WiebeSunSports: #NHLJets head coach Claude Noel said D Toby Enstrom missed skate for maintenance and that LW Evander Kane (lower-body) may be available Mon

3 of their 11 goals have come 5-on-3.

That gives them a +3 differential at 5-on-4. That's so horri-bad that it's almost humorous. Seriously, heads need to roll for something so inefficient.

:help:

Whoops. Missed this post. What he said. ;)
