Should we upgrade at this deadline and where?

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. What to do, what to do, what to do?

  • Stand pat, let the current team figure it out

  • Get a starter

  • Get a backup goalie

  • Improve the 3rd pair

  • Get a top4 D

  • Get a scoring winger

  • Upgrade the bottom6

  • Get a 2C

And in hindsight, no one was ever wrong for "wanting" to trade him. No matter how ridiculous the return was or wasn't.

Buffalo has a winger logjam with Kulich, Quinn, Peterka, Rosen, Benson, Tuch, Zucker and maybe a couple of other prospects.

I’d love to get Peterka but they’ll realistically want a 1st for him. I’d do that if they took Tank back the other way as part of the trade JJP’s speed would be a huge asset up and down the lineup.

Rosen was the one that stuck our from the ahl team,ostlund I think it was and Wahlberg are only noticeable ones in the ahl to me

They should expect a 1st for peterka , no chance they take a 1st and do us a favor by taking tarasenko's money lol + hes also never wave to go there

No chance again they give us peterka AND Samuelson for that lol adams is a fool but I don't think we'd be that lucky

Cozens is the more realistic one since his name has been out there for a while but I'm happy with both

They'd probably want nhl players for peterka and sadly we only have old overpaid bottom 6 players to offer

Don't think a 1st and berggren would cut it ... fans wont want but I think debribcat is what close to 29? I'd do one for one or a big package to include cozens if we throw a 1st +

Hes scored 28 last year on pace for 25 on one of the worst teams,he'd here longterm ... obviously try and get him without debrincat but 1st +berggren+compher wont work

And part of this is the fact that other teams in the mix will be trying to add. It's not just that Detroit has to maintain a certain win rate... they'll need to do it against at least one or two competitors that improve at the deadline.

I don't think Tuch wants out of Buffalo, he plays at home similar to how we felt pretty protected in terms of the depths of our rebuild with Larkin.

I like Peterka's game a ton, he is a very direct player and has a heavy release.

Buffalo and Detroit are not good trade partners at all, imo. Both teams are looking for roster upgrades and are not taking on more picks and prospects. They're in better position to unload those parts

Unsure why Tuch is on the block, unless I missed something

Florida just got seth Jones and they'll probably get Brady in 3 years lol ... yzermans gotta get aggressive I want carlo or k miller ... I'm done with justin Holl , dump him in a river somewhere
 
Not against a modest buy or a modest sell, one thing is for sure.. Yzerman wont stand pat. I am confident in a weeks time there will be a few new guys in the line up. Dont ask me if they are from Grand Rapids or another organization.. but there will be movement no doubt.

One way or another it will be enough to give them a spark. If you give some kids a chance from Grand Rapids in huge games, you get to see what they have... could be baptism by fire. Could see a few non overpriced vets brought in for stability.

I dont anticipate a major franchise altering trade... mid season and with the Wings stuck in the muddy middle of the playoff race, seems like a non Yzerman time to rock the boat. If you believe his bi-annual mission statements.

Still in a playoff spot while controlling their own fate.

Can we just, at very least, bring in someone competent enough on the 3rd pair to not have Gus be the better more reliable defenseman of the two? H0ll has gotten worse since he was signed. Too slow, too lacking in skills, and not positionally smart enough to play in the NHL without being a liability.
Doing that shouldn't cost much, and would provide a less damaging 3rd that could play a couple minutes more per game.

It's too early, but I agree. Wave Holl and trade Veleno and Tarasenko for something.
