He's available. Should we offer him a Babcock type deal?
I like Keefe but Imo you upgrade at every position when you can and I think he's an upgrade over Keefe.
When he went to Washington I wondered if he would stifle the caps offense and how he would get along with OV, and he did stellar all over.
On the island he took mediocre and gave them some decency.
With our team and talent I think Trotz would be tickled pink to have a true #1 two-way centre and the rest of this lineup. His matchup game and in game management is top notch.
I only see upside here.
Agree? Disagree? Someone else on your mind?
Trotz to Toronto

The answer is yes.

Keefe isn't a good enough coach to get this team over the hump.
I think Keefe is a good coach with the players and his tactics are good but Trotz is another level with tactics just not sure how he is with the players.
That said I think Babcock thickened their skins and maturity would factor in if Trotz steps on some toes

only if you get rid of p***yboi at the same time.

otherwise Trotz isn't going to work.
Who is p***yboi?

We seem to be going with the Caps approach - keep running it back until we win a cup.

Trotz ironically was the coach who won the cup with the Caps. I’d go for it if that’s the case.
And Imo Trotz was the difference maker. I was surprised when they let him go

the one who makes the decisions.

Can't have Trotz working under him. It would be like Babcock all over again. If you ship out keefe you ship out dubas at the same time. It's the only way.

Otherwise keep'em both and let them go down with the ship.

Hmmm interesting. I don't see it being a problem as I think Trotz would love this roster, thus there would be no conflict.
Babcock had different ideas on how to build the roster

YES!

Keefe always finds a way to get out-coached. And keeps making dumbass decisions like playing Holl 5 games in a row when you had a stable D in Liljegren who played well with Giordano in games during the regular season. Why change that when Holl and Gio haven't even played together much previously? I can understand it doing it for 1 game but for 5 straight games? seriously? get bent Keefe.

100000%

People think all Trotz does it the trap-NYI style. He only did that because they have no talent. He didn't have to do that in Washington when he had the likes of Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kuznetsov etc. I don't doubt him being able to find the optimal style for our roster

Trotz would push these guys and never allow them to become complacent. Much better than Keefe and his "2-2 split is great" attitude

Dubas and Shanahan want a yes-man so they can continue their completely unnecessary outside-the-box thinking for the sake of outside-the-box thinking. Trotz is very much inside the box and would tell them to take a hike.
I don't think so myself. Babcock apparently was going against the grain yet he was here until he obviously lost the room.
Trotz brings his pedigree and I think dubas and Shanahan would respect that

You put the out of the box thinking so perfectly its hilarious and true. They seem to abhor doing something conventional with this team. The funny thing is we are getting better results (in the regular season) by getting bigger players and better physical D-first defencemen which goes against the whole "We need tiny puck movers on the back end" tripe that Dubas pushed for the first few years. Look at Mac Hollowell and Duszak ....they amounted to nothing yet they were the future of NHL d-corps in Duby's eyes.

I was too. I sometimes wonder if Dubas doesn't take the concept of loyalty too far and thus is 100% committed to Keefe. If that's the case then it'll be Keefe again next season but if not, Trotz is worth considering.
I get the loyalty but this is pro sports, team first. Any possible upgrade, if possible, should be done.
If dubas could land Trotz and doesn't, then he has to go

It was Imo mind boggling.
Unless there was some behind the scenes info we aren't privileged to like an injury, it was a crazy decision

Trotz would want control (and for obvious reasons).

I don't foresee Dubas giving that control. However, I suspect at some point Dubas may want to win.....maybe.

I just don't see Dubas firing Keefe unless he's given an "either he goes or you go" ultimatum from above.

Keefe is Dubas' guy and he's sticking with him.
Then that's a flaw in dubas if true.
From his interviews, he would appear to be of the other mind where he has said you upgrade at every position

Well the coach has full control of who plays and is on the roster, I don't think that's a thing dubas has or would tyy to wrestle from any coach. Yes the GM assembles the players the coach has to choose from, but I think Trotz would love our lineups

If you want to turnover the entire roster save a few players, sure.
They didn't do that when he went to Washington so why would we do it here?

I don't necessarily believe the coach has full control of who plays and who is on the roster.

I believe Dubas has a large part of who is on the roster (kinda obvious).

Maybe during the game the coach decides who plays, but I also feel like Dubas has a control in that as well.
