If it results in the firing of this regime then it is 100% worth it. Every season that Shanahan/ Dubas/ Keefe are here is a wasted season and things are going to get worse before they get better.

At this point the bare minimum that needs to happen is Shanahan getting fired and have a new president decide the other 2 fate. But really we should be looking at a full house cleaning. I have exactly zero confidence this will happen. Shanahan is a politician.

I can't see Keefe getting fired based on his winning %. But I do think Shanahan may step down and Dubas fired.

Either way, I can't see them doing anything that makes us believe in this group until, I mean if, they actually come threw finally.

No other GM keeps Keefe.

He's got a 66% win percentage, I would be shocked to see him fired personally before the start of next season. Whether its the right move or not

Edit: I didnt say I agreed with this, merely that I think they will keep him because of this stat.

I think the Shanny and Dubas firing talk is pretty silly. At the end of the regular season everyone was confident this team could make the third round at least. That’s Dubas and Shanny’s job done. The coaching staff and the players deserve the majority of the blame. The blame that Dubas and Shanny do deserve is on the contracts to Matthews and Marner. Giving out that much money to unproven guys was a terrible idea.

Tonight’s loss will turn out to be the one of the greatest moments in club history if it motivates the Leafs to fire their useless coach and laughable GM.

Skating around and around the perimeter then moving the puck backwards is great for analytics but it’ll never win in the playoffs.

Actually, that is not true at all... And also not what the Leafs do.

I have a feeling people have a very warped perception of what analytics are...

BTW, most Cup winning teams (or successful teams in general) are among the league leaders in analytics... So if people think ignoring analytics is the answer, then prepared to enter into an abyss far worse than the one we current find ourselves in.

The only hope is a house cleaning.

All of management should be fired.

The team has regressed.

More appropriate term is "plateaued"...

And this team is head and shoulders better than anything that was on the ice under Lou.

Which is overrated due to this being a paer giant regular season team which had a dominant regular season in the North before choking.

Keefe isn't a special coach he is a poor coach who can't win in the playoffs.

Shanahan has been here 7 seasons without a playoff win. In his first year he fired Carlyle and replaced him with Horachek while the Leafs were in a playoff spot. 7 years later the leafs are further away from winning a playoff series.

Shanahan has treated every real hockey person in this organization like trash. Lou, Hunter, Babcock, Carlyle. Bad karma comes from that. He is nothing but a politician and should not be in his role. 7 years is an eternity in pro sports and he has failed. He needs to be shown the door.

You’re right, I didn’t notice either of those guys on the ice even once tonight

This team could switch rosters with the habs tonight and Toronto would still lose.
Switch rosters in this series and they just dump us out in 5 games. When we're underdogs we lose, when we're favourites we lose.

LOSE LOSE LOSE

I have no idea what this team is supposed to do now. If we had a scrappy team with grit (so called) like NYI or MTL, we'd probably just miss the playoffs.

The Babcock era saw the Leafs lose in the playoffs three times in long series against Stanley Cup contenders.

After Bobcock got fired, the Leafs in rather poor fashion lose twice against mediocre teams in the playoffs.

The team "plateaued" 3 years ago.

Dubas and Shanny's job is "done" by what other people say about the team and not what they actually do?!

Am I actually understanding this correctly?

Keefe is gone. The stink of this is on him, and the players need to be held accountable. I would also start playing the youth. No more patch job shit. Get Lily, Sandin, Robertson, Amirov, and Brooks in. We have a ton of prospects coming as well, GET THE YOUNG players in.

I think both Shanahan and Dubas have done good jobs.

Two things have to happen - trade Marner and fire Keefe.

I don’t think Dubas is willing to do either of those... in which case he has to go.

I don’t think Shanahan will force that issue... in which case he has to go too.
