Arte would rather meddle and lose than let someone else make the decisions and win.Arte Moreno needs to sell the team to owner who let's the management make decisions! The Angels won their only World Series back in 2002 when Disney owned
That championship was a fluke. Outside of 2002, the Disney ownership brought nothing but mediocrity.Arte Moreno needs to sell the team to owner who let's the management make decisions! The Angels won their only World Series back in 2002 when Disney owned
Even at $500 I would have thought it's crazy but $700 million lol. Imagine being his agent. What's his cut? How many World Series wins to make it worth it?
Yankees haven't been to a world series since 2009. You can just say you don't watch, that's fine.
I believe that was more that if Ohtani signed with the Jays Soto might be interested.
Houston was cheating though................not sure the asterisk is worth it....& Houstons played in more World Series than LA has in the last decade.
You're wrong, it was if they couldn't sign Ohtani they'd pivot and trade for Soto.
I'm just going to point out owners have money.
Ricketts has a ton of money and he isn't spending it no matter what anybody thinks. He spent money during the Cubs heyday and got only one WS out the deal then came to the realization Wrigley is going to be in the upper tier of attendance no matter what and his network makes money hand over fist.
This goes with every owner. Do not think any owner cannot afford a billion dollar contract that's paid off incrementally in a decade, they can. The owners that want to win will pay it easily. Hell, look no further then the guy who owns AEW/ Jacksonville who has yet to turn a profit and is blowing thru money signing has been wrestlers so he can play real life action figures with his fathers money.
Don't hate the player, hate the owner.
Doesn’t that keep going down in each state he plays in as a visiting player?
Well, it used to be a watch or a steak dinner. If I'm Kelly I'm asking for a house and ten million dollars considering he's going to be the butt end of the whole "who wore 17 for the Dodgers before a multiple time MVP pretty much retired the number " jokes until the end of time happens.Lol this killed me
(you're spot on tho)
Wonder how much Kelly asks Ohtani for in order to give up #17
They’re the only league with no hard cap and no max contract lengthI just don't understand how baseball is the one dishing out these monster contracts. NHL and NFL and even the NBA contracts don't even come close. 10 years...700 MILLION dollars. Imagine a NFL contract like that. And you thought 6 years and 88m was a lot.
Dodgers weren't spending like this before they got the massive Spectrum TV deal. That changed their calculus massively and put them on the S tier of rich teams in baseball. As a kid, I used to always hate teams like the Dodgers and Yankees for spending so much more than other teams.
There eventually came a point where I realized that it's not that many teams CAN'T spend...it's that they WON'T spend. Many of these owners are happy to collect revenue sharing and call it a day, all in the name of quarterly earnings, when they could easily add tens of millions to their payroll without breaking a sweat.
I'm not defending the notion of spending nearly three-quarters of a BILLION dollars on a single player, but at least the Dodgers try to win and don't cry poor like a bunch of grifters.

MLB's schedule consists of 162 games... which is 9x as many as an NFL seasonI just don't understand how baseball is the one dishing out these monster contracts. The deferred money is to be paid out without interest from 2034 to 2043.
For CBT purposes, the expected average annual value on the contract is said to be closer to $46 million per year, the person briefed on the terms said.
