Yeah Georgiev has had some phenomenal performances, but is very inconsistent. Also, I don't know if it's still true, but a month or so back someone posted the breakdown, and Lundqvist had played a much harder schedule.

Advanced stats heavily favor Lundqvist as well.

dont care what happens just excited to see igor play. the avs are a legit contender so why not have a game right? a dream come true for this young man and im sure hell be nervous as hell. cannot wait to see the future.

perfect world would be the defense plays well in front of igor who wins his first NHL start, chris kreider scores 2 goals auditioning for his new team and alex newhook realizes his new team plays in NYC which is where hell make his debut down the road...

a guy can dream.

Rangers have gone with 22 players for stretches during the year; they were testing how well they could manage the roster in a 3 goalie situation

Who is more overrated?

Price or Vasilevsky?

Honestly its a tough question. Personally I would pick Price as the most overrated.

This chart is even more indicative to how well Hank played this season. But then again, it is dreaded advanced stats so the Hank bashers wont even acknowledge its existence.

I get the sense that his competitive fire won't be fulfilled by playing guitar on the side with Johnny Mac

I don't think it would be fulfilled by basically collecting a check to have your name listed as a special adviser/special assistant on the team website.

He doesn't spend his summers in NY. My $ would be on him moving back home.

His home is here in NY for a majority of the year, his kids are in school here, have friends, etc. Not to mention his business interests and charities all based out of here. I foresee him going back to Sweden during summers, and coming back here to live for the rest of the year as he does now.

Hank is gonna play with Frolunda again. It's something I'm sure he'll want to do, especially with his brother. His NHL career will end in NY, but I do not think for one second he's retiring a Ranger. He'll end it in the SHL.

Hank is arguably top 5 in the league this season.

That's only 5v5 though. According to NST's xG formula Hank is 10th in both GSAA/60 and raw GSAA in all situations. Georgiev is 11th in both.

E: Or rather GSAx, if that is the new term.

Those charts show a guy that makes a lot of saves because he plays on a team that gives up a ton of shots as does Georgiev. Georgiev has had some really bad games. That skew things too.

hank to his credit has not, but what those charts won’t show you are the soft goals given up, the additional chances created because he’s flopping, the penalty kill goals against he’s not been good there for years, or timely saves not made that used to be made by a guy that was an all star goalie worthy of his salary. No one is saying hank is the worst goalie in the league.

But he’s not a top end goalie anymore he just gets paid like one. And frankly to the young kids credits if they weren’t pushing him out the door we wouldn’t be so eager to watch him leave. But it’s a salary cap league and if you’re getting paid like a top player you need to perform like one or you aren’t helping the team.

See also: I have no f***ing idea what those charts mean or how to interpret them.
