I would not wanna give up Shattenkirk AND Berglund for Krejci...that's too much. Krejci seems like he'd be Stastny 2.0 on the Blues. Way overpriced for what he brings to the table. It would have to be Lehtera going back since he only plays center, and then Boston would have to add something.

1) I'd love to hear why you think Krejci would be Stastny 2.0.

2) Bruins have 0.0 interest in Lehtera. He has negative value to Boston in a trade.

Don't be so dramatic. Boston may not have an immediate interest, but that isn't the same as having negative trade value. He's not Bickell despite your attempt.

Krejci would be like Stastny as he'd be the defacto #1 center but he's no a top tier guy that fans would expect. He has a huge cap hit that he will constantly have to justify. It's not nessisaraly meant to be negative. At the same time...Blues fans need to realize, we're not getting an elite centerman via trade without it substantially hurting. If Shattenkirk brought Krejci....Wouldn't be excited but it would be an excellent addition

Have you ever even seen Krejci play?

Lehtera isn't negative value, he's just overpaid, but that's also the reason why teams wouldn't want to trade for him. Being overpaid and not having an expiring contract makes him difficult to move. He's not a Bickell contract, it's just a contract that most teams wouldn't want to acquire, especially teams near the cap. A Shattenkirk extension plus Lehtera would make it very difficult for Boston.

Maybe I started the Krejci not being a legit #1, but he is definitely a step above Stastny. Krejci can drive his line offensively much better than Stastny can. They are similar, but Krejci is simply better. There are legitimate questions about Krejci though as him being the true #1. He's always been the 2nd best center, with either Bergeron or Savard.

Krejci would easily be our best center, as Shattenkirk would be Boston's best defender. Neither are proven without the luxury of a Pietrangelo, Bergeron, or Savard.

Never in my life....literally zero.....

:sarcasm:

He's led the league in playoff scoring and has enabled both Lucic and an aging Iginla to score 30 goals here. Eriksson just scored 30 with him.

He is a top [undervalued] two-way playmaking center.

He was dominant to start the season -- 15 points in the first 9 games with one top six winger on his line.

That is the type of talent he has. The sole concern one can have with him is his injury potential going forward. Any other qualms about a trade like this from a STL perspective are baffling. Take it and run. Tarasenko and Krejci would be most impressive.

Different teams, different results. Same way Stastny was sold, he made so and so an xx goal scorer. Ideally we need a dual threat centerman for Tarasenko....like a Tyler Seguin.

As I've said, if we got Krecji...cool, but I wouldn't expect him to produce 70+pts

This is all fair. I only meant to Boston in the context of the trade that taking on Lehtera's deal is worse for the Bruins than taking on nothing at all. He isn't Bickell, but his inclusion in this deal has a negative value for Boston with Marchand, Spooner and Pastrnak all needing new deals.

Moving from run and gun Colorado to Boston is extremely different than moving from Boston. Shattenkirk ain't going to get you a Seguin. Only Alex P would get you that. Although, I know you agree with all that.

I agree. Lehtera would kill many deals with many teams.

That is true.... still would be a somewhat uneasy trade given the age/money/ commitment that comes with it

Complete BS. What would those questions be?

He's always been the 2nd best center on the team. A ppg+ Savard or a healthy Bergeron.

I won't deny that Bergeron is better, of course, but one asterisk here is that Krejci (up until this season) has always played more minutes per game than Bergeron. Its not like Krejci has played against 2nd tier matchups, he always got the other teams shutdown line.

Using this logic, Malkin was never a #1 center either.

This obviously isn't fair, but, even if it was, you can also point to the piles of games where Crosby has been out to refute. bleedblue1223 is a very fair poster and while I think there is a great deal less concern about Krejci being THE GUY, than there is Shattenkirk, its not unfair point to say that he has always been part of a two (or three!) headed monster.

I don't even know why were arguing it... Krejci would be the undisputed #1 in stl regardless of who he was behind in Boston. He would still get "sheltered" playing with Stastny and Sobokta...so while he loses the best defensive centerman, he's backed up by 2 guys that know the 200ft game.

Just about every Blues fan would be happy with the swap and agree Stl will add..... so I ask...why are we arguing?

Because we miss hockey.

I personally see Krejci as a similar tier player to Jeff Carter. Excels with a prime Richards or Kopitar, and wasn't as effective on his own.

This is very well put. I think you see some bristling from STL fans because Shattenkirk has kind of been "our Malkin" in that his accomplishments get diminished because he isn't the best player on his team at his particular position. Some Blues fans were probably feeling that same vibe from BOS posters and used Krecji's standing within his own team to "fight back."

What I think we can all agree on is that something along the lines of Berglund + Shattenkirk for Krecji would likely be the foundation of a fair deal for both sides in that it gives both teams something they need without leaving them unnecessarily weak in another area. BOS gets a much needed boost to the blueline from a player they know they can re-sign given his ties to the area and a 3C option to give them Bergy-Backes-Bergy down the middle. STL gets a much needed upgrade to their forward group out of the most valuable (yet still expendable) asset they have, and they get that in the form of a player who would instantly be the best offensive C on the team, pretty much the best case scenario from dealing Shatty.
