Sharks with the 1st Overall

I don't think that's true, if it is then it's news to me. I think the rule is that you can't jump up above your initial spot more than once in a 5 year period or something like that. If you finish last in the league 3 years in a row you can end up with the top pick each of those years.... i think

Team finishing last can pick first forever. Teams can't move up more than twice in a five year period.

Solid jinx thread from another fan of a tanking thread, well-done.

This is pretty simple. If Hagens has pulled away from the pack like Celebrini did last year, you simply take him. If it's a legitimate debate, then it becomes interesting, as both Martone and Schaefer are perfect fits for what the Sharks need.

We're gonna get at least one more top-5 pick in 2026 anyway, so I would be inclined to take Schaefer if it makes sense, but again, if Hagens is the clear BPA, you just take him and figure the rest out later.

Thought so, thanks for the confirmation.

You see my motives, much respect lol.....

I'm rooting for Sharks to be the only team that finishes worse if there is a team due to them being least likely to take a C

Oilers had Hall and Hopkins back to back after finishing last and I remember that upset people

2010 #1. Hall
2011 #1. RNH
2012 #1. Yakupov
2014 #3 Drai
2015 #1 McDavid
2016 #4 Poolparty

I think people had a right to be pissed, much like they were during the days where Pit had

2002 #5 Whitney
2003 #1 MAF
2004 #2 Malkin
2005 #1 Crosby
2006 #2 Staal

I don't see anyone getting too upset if Sharks get first again, they're the clear bottom team

Realistically I think this draft is a really good situation for the Sharks no matter how the lottery balls play out simply because there's no one who is truly a bad fit for us in the top-3. Martone is like the perfect winger for Celebrini. Schaefer is exactly what our D needs to add to Dickinson, Mukhamadullin, and Cagnoni. And Hagens is Hagens, you don't turn down the potential for three #1 centers. I'm so much less worried about lottery balls this time than I was in 2024, when Celebrini was the real prize and everyone else was much less exciting.

Probably a good situation for the Hawks and Flyers too, no? Don't think either of those teams has enough talent at any position to turn up their nose at anyone in the top-5. And with Hagens, Misa, and McQueen, you're likely to get your center.

You changed my mind. We really need that 17th overall pick for a chance at drafting the next Lukas Reichel, Ty Smith or Timothy Liljegren. Maybe we’ll even be lucky enough to get Carlo Colaiacovo.
I remember at the time Lilijegren was seen as a steal for some cause he had mono in his DY I believe.
