Part of the problem is hanging on to the puck too long at the blue line. Near the end of regulation there, I saw Marleau at the very tail end of his shift camping in front of the net and Thornton is just dangling the puck while skating from the half-boards up to the blue line and eventually out when there was a good few moments for him to at least take a shot and he just doesn't. Part of the problem with them not scoring is that hesitation at the blue line. You're not doing your teammates any favors by hanging on to the puck while he's taking punishment in front of the net.

It's the one thing I despise about Boyle. He knows better than to do that but sometimes he hesitates too. It is human nature sometimes. However, that is a major sticking point to them putting goals on the board is that puck play at the blue line.

Or gliding in on 2 on 1's. Marleau not shooting and not skating was pretty dumb. JT and Havlat not on the same page..hurts. They need to shoot quicker. Too much indecision.

Thornton never should have been named Captain. I would have given it to Boyle. Of course we dont know what goes on in the Sharks dressing room but Marleau and Thornton have never seemed like good leaders to me.

I'm pretty sure the entire team was in favor of Thornton being named Captain. That or he stepped up and asked for it after Blake left. You gotta ease up on the Thornton haterade brah.

What makes you think that...one...they don't listen to their fan base or aren't aware of it. Two...that it would be a wise decision to actually listen to their fan base?

Just saying, there's no media pressure in San Jose like other hockey markets such as Philly or Montreal. Some might say that's a good thing, but I'm not sure it is always. Especially not in times like this.

But why does it matter to you? Why do you care? Why are you even engaging me on this? Like you say, they get the last laugh with the almighty dollar.

Fans are allowed to be angry, and go to the game angry, and express displeasure. And call for a coach's or GM's head (Firing I mean).

Because you're giving the actual good Sharks fans a bad name. Boo the on-ice product, don't ask for someone to get fired when you have absolutely no clue what's going on behind the scenes.

It matters because even individual fans that make a case that management doesn't care what you think will still believe that saying that kind of stuff will reflect on the image of the fans as a whole for this market. That's like asking why anyone would care for someone booing the national anthem.

What's a good Sharks fan? Someone who chants "Let's go Shawww-rrks" the entire game even when the team can't score more than one goal a game in a month?

So Brent Burns is the reason that we have no scoring from anybody on the team (forwards or defense or anybody)? T-MAC isn't fired because of some irrational fear that he'll blow up the team? It's only because of Burns?

It's not *only* Burns, but it is true that he is a huge missing piece for this team and it means Tmac does not have the team DW intends him to have.

Burns is the biggest change that is likely to happen to this team this season. Between having him back and finally sitting Murray, the defense will be light years different and it will create a sea change in offense.

As for the offense, I actually think it's time to put back the original top 6 and let them ride this out. Clowe may suck right now but he is still our 6th best forward.

this. it was a team decision from what i understood as well. i think if they want him captain that it probably means a lot more and is more valid than fans not wanting him captain. im being objective here, i honestly was sure boyle would get it at the time.

A person who knows their place. A person who doesn't chant for people to get fired when they have no clue what's actually going on in the locker-room/behind the scenes.

I can understand why both Patty and Jumbo slowed up there and are looking for the pass. Their angles as a left hand shot down the side is poor. And as much as they like to say pass the puck off the goalie pads, in that situation with that positioning, that's not a good play either.

If there was another option, especially for Marleau, it would have been to try and toe-drag it to the middle of the ice, build a wall, and try to get the goalie off his angle for a shot but it's still not a high chance of success there. Havlat didn't play the role of receiver very well on either rush.

Murray wasn't sitting when Burns was playing. What pattern at this point would indicate otherwise?

Burns is a big piece, yes, but one guy isn't going to help if no one is generating any offense.

It doesnt matter who the captain is, this team has much bigger problems than that.
