I think they should make Will Smith a Right-wing to Celebrini and focus on drafting a potential 2C behind him.
Their chemistry on (and off) the ice is fantastic, which is why I tend to agree. But if Schaefer is available, the Sharks have to go D!

Would be nice to move up the standings and win the lottery next year haha
People would be Mad at that pointThat would be sooo ideal, say like 6-8th. We'd also become Villains which would be fun! Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, Askarov, Misa/Schaefer/Hagens/Martone, McKenna/Verhoeff. Perfection.
Those 9-6 games would be a blast thoughMcKenna-Celebrini-Smith
Eklund-Misa-Chernyshov
Still no defense but at least the top six would be absurd.
just saying in my NHL 25 franchise, Ek-Celebrini-Smith is a star level 1st line in 2027. Misa as my 2C with Musty on his LW and xxx on his RW is also great.I still think Will could be a star 2C for us but it’s also why I hope that we get Misa if we miss out on Schaefer. I think if Will falters as a center, Misa can be the 2C and Will can be with Mack.
I think they tried that earlier this season and it didnt workI think they should make Will Smith a Right-wing to Celebrini and focus on drafting a potential 2C behind him.
They will be a solid PP duo with that sort of dynamic if they figure it out together but yeah at evens they are not a great match. Eklund is probably the guy that knows how to play well with either of them but we haven't seen much time of Eklund and Smith as a duo.Smith likes to slow the play in the O zone to look to make East/west seem passes. Celebrini is all speed north/south.
They play such different games they won’t play well together, but it will be a perfect complementary 1-2 punch that teams can’t game plan around.
Totally agreed. Celebrini and Smith are a great PP duo and definitely will both be out on 6-on-5's and that sort of thing. But I don't think we should mold Smith to be Celebrini's permanent winger. I still want to give him a real look next year at center.Smith likes to slow the play in the O zone to look to make East/west seem passes. Celebrini is all speed north/south.

I would like them to get a legit top 6 wing to play with Smith. Obviously Rantanen or Marner would be ideal, or someone to play with Celebrini so Eklund can play with Smith.Totally agreed. Yeah, my shopping list up front next season would be one second line LW. Otherwise set on forwards. I like Celebrini and Eklund together too much to separate them.I would like them to get a legit top 6 wing to play with Smith. Eklund - Smith - Zetterlund
This would work but it leaves Celebrini nobody to play with unless they add.
I still think Toffoli makes more sense with Smith than Celebrini, but they can't do that until they let Smith play center again.Yeah, my shopping list up front next season would be one second line LW. Otherwise set on forwards. I like Celebrini and Eklund together too much to separate them.

That would be the bones of my forward group. The third line winger could be whoever fits best/earns it/whatever, I don't think we need to go shopping for it.

Even if he wants max term you still do it. If Marner is wanting to sign with your organization you say yes 100 times out of 100. Getting free top line assets is something every club would jump on.I’ve gone back and forth on looking at Marner. But after thinking about it, operating under the assumption that Patty or Jumbo are swaying his perspective (which is far from a safe assumption) I think I’m for signing Marner under the following conditions:
- 5 years or less contract; if his primary motivation is just to lock down as much term as possible Grier simply needs to pass. But if there is flexibility on term I’d be open to higher AAV
- Would be willingly to wildly overpay for shorter contract term in the 3-4 year range
- Regardless of other terms, would insist on some form of reasonably open trade terms for last year of the contract
For all the knock on Marner as a playoff dud, which, lack of truculence aside, I’m not exactly convinced of - underperforming in the playoffs would be an absolute privilege from where the Sharks have been over the last 5 years. Adding a perennial 90 point play driving two-way winger for nothing other than Hasso Platner’s money seems like an obvious win to me.
If the Patty + Joe connection and playing free of his hometown Toronto spotlight is appealing enough for Marner to take extra money on shorter team to help build a team I think you just have to take that even if you don’t love some aspects of his game.
His actually shouldn't be too hard ("Chair-knee-shohv"), which makes it even funnierEvery time I watch a Saginaw away game, I learn a new and exciting way to pronounce "Chernyshov".
