That would not be a good fear considering they have guys like Hamaliuk signedSharks might fear that there's no space on the roster.

Curtis Pashelka said he would bet they dont sign him, which seems pretty stupid to me unless he just refuses.5 prospects with exclusive rights expiring to keep an eye on

Interesting analysis about Oberg at the bottom of this article. Hope he signs.
I don’t understand why they wouldn’t sign him considering we have signed others from the SHL with a similar pedigree and he’s already in our system.Curtis Pashelka said he would bet they dont sign him, which seems pretty stupid to me unless he just refuses.

Papers got lost in the transition to Joe Will? Yeah, I can see that. Hopefully one of our beat writers remind him before it’s too late. The management staff lost the post-it note that has the Sharks reserve list on it, so they forgot he exists.

Other than Oberg not wanting to sign (and he's a 7th round draft pick, beggers can't be choosers) or the scouting staff viewing him negatively (possible), the only thing I can think of is "too many right-handers" (not a problem). But like why?
Then you sign him and let him fight for a spot, he doesn’t get it you send him backPretty sure Oberg is not eligible to play in the AHL next season due to the new SHL-NHL transfer agreement.
Is there a tldr on the new agreement?Pretty sure Oberg is not eligible to play in the AHL next season due to the new SHL-NHL transfer agreement.
Basically the relevant section is if a Swedish player is under 24 and was drafted outside the first round he can only play in the SHL or NHL. Under the previous agreement the age cutoff was 21 so Oberg would have been eligible to play for the Barracuda next season. Is there a tldr on the new agreement?
This is probably the correct response. I was kind of bummed out about it because you don't want to just let an asset go for free, but odds are quite high that he would end up, at best, as a 3rd or 4th liner, and if the Sharks have anything at this stage, it's a lot of guys who look like current or future bottom six guys.Disappointing but not that big of a deal.
