CNBC story

Construction on the project could begin as early as next year but is expected to take between 10 and 30 years to fully build.
...
On Tuesday night, while San Jose city council meeting was still being held, the company reached a last-minute deal with NHL team the San Jose Sharks, which was the most vocal opponent of Google's plan, complaining about the lack of proposed parking spaces for its home at the nearby SAP arena. In exchange for modifications, the Sharks agreed not to sue the city or Google.

The Santa Clara County Airport Land Use Commission rejected the project in December, citing concerns about building heights in the airport's path but the city council's unanimous vote overrode the commission's rejection.

The height restrictions are in place around airport flight paths. That's concerning (ever flown into San Diego through high rises on final approach?).

Can't f***ing wait for Google to completely own our city.

Can't wait until Google goes the way of Enron and we're stuck with a rotting, dilapidated wasteland surrounding our Downtown area like Detroit.

No corporation is too big to fail and Google with it's anti-competitive, monopolistic corporate greed culture is a house of cards just waiting to fall.

I don't want to side track the thread, but there are some others that could be lumped into this too . .

And in the spirit of hockey, I'd say include the Wilson regime too. ;)

Becher Talks How Much Money Sharks Lost This Year, Alternate Jersey, SAP Center Ice | SJHN+

State of the Sharks. Paywall.

Up to ~84% STH renewal. Losses last season were "a big number". Helmet sponsorships for next season aren't done, but existing sponsors have first right of refusal. One (or more) alternate jerseys coming for next season. 30th anniversary celebrations won't seep over to 21-22 season. No contract extension beyond 2025 for SAP Center yet.

A bunch of stuff on the construction. Lots of concern over reduction in lanes, two-way to one-way streets and the potential for making it nearly impossible to get to SAP Center with five or so major projects. Sharks seeking coordination between all projects. ABC lot may be replaced by structure (and someone like Google building on footprint)
