Now he wants to get Robertson in but it's tough to take guys out when you ask them to play strong defensively first and they do that.

I think Robbie at this point can’t cut it with the current top 6. As the 3rd wheel on the top 6 needs to be someone who grinds and wins board battles, something Robbie can’t do.
And it goes back to the dynamic of the 3rd line as we know the function of Kampf and ZAR line.
Can the third line be more offensive and be defensively responsible, bc that’s what the Leafs lack. Robbie can provide that offensive spark for the 3rd line.

Agreed on the fit issue. I think the goal should be to acquire a top 6 winger - the best available - and spread out scoring on 3 lines. Would give the team scoring depth and Robertson could be part of a pair on the third line potentially.

Bunting - Matthews - Top 6 winger
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Marner
Robertson - Kerfoot - Nylander (good chemistry in playoffs together and I think would be a fast dangerous line)
ZAR - Kampf - Malgin/Engvall

Or Keefe can try Robbie on the first line with Bunting and AM and let Willie runs his own line with Kerfoot and Engvall.
 
These reverse retros need to widen the shoulder whites. From behind, it is not visible. Should be.

I think Keefe should keep a newspaper and wack Engvall on the back of the head every time he comes back to the bench
