In his 2nd stint with Leafs, he made a bunch of early saves in a game vs WASH. "He came to play tonight!" yelled Bob Cole.

Final score was something like Caps 8 Leafs 1.

I don't think there is any agenda tbh. It's likely as simple as the team was floundering and they needed to play simple defensive game to get out of it so he dressed all his vet players. Then it worked well and they got on a roll and he didn't want to mess with what was working too much.

Now he wants to get Robertson in but it's tough to take guys out when you ask them to play strong defensively first and they do that.
