2 bad penalties taken by Dickinson and USA scores the only goal so far on one of them is considered a good game?
At the time I posted, the only penalty was the trip. The trip I don't really put on him because he was more or less standing there and the player flew thru.

I posted around the beginning of the 2nd. So yes, I did think he was having a good game at that point. Solid activation, decent job on the PP, good use of his body to separate pucks on the board.

Not sure if it is the coach or HC philosophy but they aren't playing to their strengths.
What strength is that? The team left so many offensively gifted players at home for more grind it out defensive players, that the team offensively is as good as it can be, while being strong defensively.

With the round robin finished (4 games per team):

Svoboda (USA) - 1 goal, 2 assists, +1
Halttunen (Fin) - 1 goal, 1 assist, +1
Dickinson (Can) - 1 assist, even

Kirsch (Swi) - 3 GP (1-2-0-0)*, 2.65 GAA, .903 sv%

*I don't know how the IIHF tracks records for goalies (I believe during one game it was said that they don't normally count/award wins and losses to individual goaltenders as a matter of record-keeping) but based on the fact that Kirsch had 1 win in his 3 games and that was the only win of Switzerland's round robin play with no games reaching OT or the shootout, I have to assume that his record is 1 win, 2 regulation losses, 0 OT losses, 0 shootout losses

So clearly Svoboda is our crown jewel prospect while Dickinson is a pathetic bust.

Your Thursday schedule is also set:

8am PT/11am ET - Relegation Game - Germany vs Kazakhstan

9am PT/noon ET - QF #1 - Sweden vs Latvia

11:30am PT/2:30pm ET - QF #2 - USA (Svoboda) vs Switzerland (Kirsch?)

2pm PT/5pm ET - QF #3 - Finland (Halttunen) vs Slovakia

4:30pm PT/7:30pm ET - QF #4 - Canada (Dickinson) vs Czechia

Who knows if Kirsch starts. I would guess maybe he does because he's been the most effective of the 2 Swiss goalies that have played games (3rd stringer Ewan Huet hasn't gotten into a game, while the team's other dressed goalie Elijah Neuenschwander has a 5.29 GAA and .820 sv% in his appearances)

Honestly, I expected more from Sam with such time on the ice. There is not enough decision-making speed and gaming IQ to generate dangerous moments

Germany avoids relegation, winning 4-3 vs Kazakhstan after being down as much as 3-1 at one point.

Also they had a Schafer score 2 goals for them. Sharks should draft him just to say they came away from the 2025 drat with a Scha(e)fer no matter what. :sarcasm:

Yeah, I did curse them. My bad! Victor Eklund is very fun though.

I really am enjoying these commercials like "What if Connor Bedard wanted to be a carpenter?". Seems like fun.

There's also "what if Connor McDavid was a chef?" I thought there was a 3rd one but I can't find any record of it.

It's not the same ad set, but I like the NHL one about tipping, even if I have to suspend my fervent dislike for ratface Brad Marchand.

Germany won 4:3, the rest is correct, particularly the part with schafer :thumbu:

The NHL is finally starting to make some funny bits. Surprising but I'm on board. Love the tipping one too.

Yikes. Short night for Kirsch
Only the first goal was bad IMO. Swiss D is f***ing horrible.

Between Eiserman, Buium, and Leonard, this US team is incredibly unlikeable.
