there actually is no right way to defend against an odd man rush, but there are definately some bad ways to play an odd man rush.

Correct. Trust your goalie, take away the pass let him take the shooter. The reason Vlasic is so good at it is because of his stick skill. He doesn't have to lay down on the ice, he has enough confidence in his hand-eye that he knows he can stay on his feet and if someone tries to pass through him he's going to stop it. It's not really something you can teach.

The other advantage of this method is the passer is fooled into thinking 'pft I can pass it past that guy easy' and so makes the pass allowing Vlasic to knock it away most times.

The smartest thing Tmac did all game was put Patty and Havlat on the ice together in OT.

Also, Patty is a lot faster than Havlat

So Randy and Drew were talking about how the coaches started giving Burns advice and structure on how to play forward, but they mostly don't want to overload him and want to let him play free.
But it's like they tainted him now because he didn't get any points

Really, the best 2-1 is when you completely take away the pass, but allow the shooter only his one lane to the net. This allows the goalie to sharply cut down the angle.

When Wings fans say that Pavelski is a bigger Wings killer than Seto, I never fully understood that.

Seto KILLED the Wings single-handedly last time we played them in the playoffs.

To be fair, he has played with mostly terrible line mates who can't do a damn thing with his great passes.

Still, he's not good defensively, but if he were in a top-6 role consistently I think his +- would be a lot better.

Galiardi finally showing what he can do, hopefully he continues doing so. Sharks iced nearly the best line-up they could really, and Havlat was really helpful out there. If they'd just bench Murray, we'd be gold heh.

I agree. Don't give up on Tmac yet, he has almost figured it out.

Funny I was just coming on to post about him. I like his game as a whole. He has decent speed, can pass, and is fairly shifty, but man I don't know if I've ever seen a player get thrown around so much. The guy gets crushed constantly by hits and ends up on the ground. Is it just me noticing this or is it actually happening?

Given pavelski is the same height as Gomez pavs certainly plays bigger and absorbs hits better.

No finish, no balance, not good defensively, and he throws the puck away a ton. He's a good addition to the bottom-6 and an improvement over guys like Burish and Handzus, but he's not a Top-6 player.

By the eye-test, poor game from Irwin. By the advanced stats, very poor game by Irwin. Probably his worst of the season.

Yea he didn't look too good. Very impressed with Demers this game though. I'm going to be pissed if Demers is out next game.

pretty much the perfect third liner as long as hes paired with some responsible forwards.

Gomez just looks small compared to Pavelski. I would also compare their weight. Gomez is probably the smallest guy on the team.
