I can understand this as obviously getting real talent for the remainder of this year comes with Zero value (so the value of the remainder of the year simply increases the purchase price for any longer term players).
All that said, I guess I hold out hope for a top 4 D?
I suppose the more realistic eventuality would have that trade happen over the summer either around draft day or UFA time.
What can I say, I want to see the future begin to take shape instead of more jettisoning more of the past for free along with adding more filler like desharnais (like Ceci was, etc). So far, the sharks have basically done nothing. Perhaps that's to be expected, but I guess I am hoping for a bit of a blockbuster that adds a real piece (top 6F or top 4D) for the next year and beyond.
I can dream...
