I don't believe Francis would get much for Wennberg right now with his current contract, as he is ideally a 3rd line center on most teams around the league, and he won't fit into most teams cap structures.
That said, while not posting big numbers, he has been great, logging a ton of tough minutes this year in Seattle.
I think he is more valuable to Seattle than to most other teams, with the way this team is built.
Seattle doesn't have a legitimate, dangerous top six, but they have a strong top nine rolling three lines, and Wennberg is a big part of that. If you replace him with wright, there will be a giant hole in the teams defensive game that is already a weak spot imo.
I'm also not sure why we would trade Wennberg now, especially since his line is driving play at an incredible rate and creating more chances than any other line we have.
I also agree in that we probably wouldn't get all that much in return and that wouldn't make much sense.
Looking at trades:
I know many folks will cry foul but I think the center that might go during the season could be Yanni Gourde.
He's a valuable piece for a contending team that has proven to be effective during a playoff run and given his age probably won't be around when this team's actually good.
Of course, the only way that happens is if we're out of the playoff picture come TDL or if Wright performs well enough to make this a possibility.
BTW: Talking about Wright again, here's a take by Emerald City Hockey.
I get what they're saying and I also get Hakstol trying to play the best lineup to win now.
Though, at some point Francis needs to make a decision and either send Wright back to the OHL or find a way that his coach plays the kid, IMO.
