Just seems like a weird thing to get butt hurt over

It’s a compliment to rantanen tbh

What’s weird is to make a comparison like this then backtrack by saying you were only claiming he’s a poor man’s Rantanen (ie “our Rantanen”). Poor man’s Rantanen...if he’s only 70% of Rantanen, that’s several guys currently in the league. Why not invoke their names? This kind of clumsy comparison and subsequent tap dancing makes his comments vapid/meaningless.

No one said "poor man's". Again it's utterly ridiculous that someone saying that Sennecke "MAY be our version" of Rantanen, is this surprising or bothersome to you. There's been no backtracking, I literally just keep repeating the same words until their meaning finally registers in your brain. You missed the word "may" in that first post, severely overreacted as though a definitive statement was made and now pridefully feel the need to quadruple down. No one sullied Rantanen's great image, untwist your knickers

Maybe you should have made a comparison to a player that’s a lesser version if that’s what you meant from the beginning. Now you’re trying to backtrack by playing some double talk shell game. But keep going by all means.

You are not understanding/accurately re-stating what they are saying.

I'm not going to be making any adjustments to avoid offending the one weird Rantanen image gatekeeper who takes issue

I feel like sennecke is a pretty uncommon build/skill set… not exactly a ton of guys to look at in terms of hitting potential…. I don’t think it’s ridiculous to call his ceiling Rick nash, rantanen types. But players hardly hit their ceilings.

I guess if your looking for a lesser comp potential you have a guy like Batherson

Which, even as a huge Batherson fan, is understating Sennecke's potential (at least compared to what Batherson is right now... I still think he has an extra gear to find that is closer to legit star player)

McTavish would cost Stutzle or Brady Tkatchuk. And why would Ottawa do that? Yet, that would be the cost.

Please tell me this is a joke.

Stutzle is exactly 1 year older and has 179 more NHL points. He's also developing as a 2-way force at the moment.

Including last season where he was ailed by an injury after game #4, Stutzle is 21st in Points and PPG among forwards since 2022-23 when he was 20 years old.

Please tell me this was a joke.

Well, at the same time, why would they trade Mctavish for anyone else (save for Sanderson)?

It is completely fair for them to say "the only pieces we would want for McTavish are those that Ottawa wouldn't and shouldn't consider trading", which is basically exactly what was said.

It is less silly to mention Sanderson. Tim Stutzle is literally one of the most valuable assets in the whole league.

hmmm not sure... I read "McTavish would cost Stutzle"

It's like saying that Sanderson would cost Makar. 2 situations where the younger/unproven player is not in the same realm of value, hence why it's silly to even mention it.
If you are trying to purchase a service from me, and the true cost is a goat, but you only have an egg and a cow, and I say, well, it’s gonna cost you a cow… that doesnt mean I think the service is worth a cow. It just means thats the only thing you have that is worth trading my services for.

Why is it a joke? McTavish is not on the market. To pry a guy a club is planning their future around will always cost more than it should. If you read the rest of my post you will see I state, “why would Ottawa do that”? They wouldn’t, of course.
But the Ducks would expect that kind of return.

Nope. Exactly the opposite. Pinto has been offered in 3-4 over reaching proposals today. He doesn’t have the value that some believe.
The way Pinto’s season has started I understand fan perception. I’m fairly confident GMs view Pinto as a very valuable piece.

100% it’s a joke. Every fan and GM would think that’s a joke.

If the Sens phoned to ask the cost for McTavish the Ducks would reply he’s not on the market. If the Sens pushed and said, how about Pinto or Norris? the Ducks would ask for the moon, Stutzle. Both parties hang up.

I am not sure how to explain but when I said "Sanderson would cost Makar", it should have been enough. So the question would be : How would Oilers fans perceive this?

"Sanderson would cost McDavid or Draisaitl. And why would Edmonton do that? Yet, that would be the cost."

I understand the "principle" but there's a limit to the currency needed back you can give as an example. At some point it looks silly like in my 2 examples.

Doesn't sound like real life to me

"If the Ducks phoned to ask the cost for Kleven the Sens would reply he’s not on the market. If the Ducks pushed and said, how about LaCombe? The Sens would ask for the moon, Troy Terry. Both parties hang up"

hmmm this one is harder

I'd much rather have Batherson than Terry, particularly considering contracts

I guess it depends if you see MacTavish's upside much higher than Pinto, which actually isn't clear. McTavish is 2 years younger but Pinto is much better defensively so far and has even scored at a better pace (edit) LAST SEASON, but missed the calculation at first : both had exactly the same pace
I think it's clear MacTavish upside is more valuable right now.
