So awesome.

And there was no pre-intro Lilian telling us it was Shane, even better.

Eclipsed Style's pop by a mile. Bigger pop then all the pops last year (sorry dudleys and Sami).

I love Shane but man I didn't expect everyone else to love him THAT much. Also you can clearly tell he didn't expect it and got a tad emotional over it.

Detroit isn't known to be a Smark city right? Which would make it even more impressive.

Would it have been a far-fetched idea to think that the Vince/Shane angle could've involved the main event. Vince backs HHH and Shane backs Reigns in the main event with the winner getting what they wanted...Reigns winning means Shane gets Raw and vice versa.

Shane being so over could possibly rub off on Reigns?

Reigns winning would have more weight than just winning the title back?

Then you can use Undertaker something else. Does Shane even have any in-ring game left?

Shane vs. Undertaker just seems thrown together...why would Undertaker work for Vince?

Adding it to the main event would kill the story dead and there is no rub that will get Roman over.

They also wanted multiple giant matches at this mania so making a seperate match for this made perfect sense.

It also creates the biggest stakes dot a non streak match they can outside of a retirement angle(and he isn't ready to retire so they can't really use it yet).

As for the match. The gimmick protects Shane's in ring ability. He just needs to take a beating really and hit taker with some weapon shots.

It's going to be booked as a Taker squash with Shane getting a hope spot with weapons (why HIAC works here) until they go into the overbooked finish that I guess will involve Vince and I think Cena (but it could be a number of guys).

Love that the PG era always has to go back to the Attitude Era to sell Mania each season. I wasn't a huge Shane guy, was too young to appreciate how good he was but a treat to have him back.

Do they do the classic McMahon over booking turn where basically Shane ends up siding with the Authority in the end to defeat Taker? HHH and McMahons never have a lengthy face run.

Eh, it was worth a thought...I do get why they did it. I don't think many had Shane as Taker's opponent for this year. For surprise factor, it did do that.

Reigns seems like he's got a ceiling as a superstar...I was looking for an angle where he could get a positive rub.

Roman definitely doesn't have that kind of ceiling. It is still possible if Cena gets healthy that Cena fights for Shane, but Shane will work because he is an insane spot monkey.

Ok...
I have to ask...
Did the OP knew something...
When he made this thread?
The timing made me curious.
