This is true. I was raised in the West Island of Montreal in the 70s & 80s. It was all Anglo. Nowadays it is more equal. Often I speak French & the other person speaks English to me. Bonjour Hi

Many Francos have spoken English to me in Montreal & ville de Quebec. Sure there are some that have issues but they are not the norm.
