Skinner and Bouchard had absolute stinkers tonight, but Adam Henrique is not an NHL caliber center. I'm sorry. This guy basically gives the opposing team an extra forward every time he steps on the ice. I haven't seen a player so consistently hemmed in his own zone and incapable of making plays on the puck since the Fall for Hall days when we were trotting out the likes of JF Jacques.
This. I don’t think people understand the difference in level of play between contenders and bottom feeders. Henrique looked alright on the Ducks because everyone was getting caved every night. When he wasn’t with Mcdavid last year, he got caved in his minutes but had an unsustainable on ice shooting percentage. He simply can’t play at the speed required for a contender and so by extension, worsens the play of his wingers because HE is the most important piece on that line. If he can’t get to his spots then his wingers can’t do anything. That 3C spot is our only hole aside from 2rd.

If I’m the Oilers I’m asking ourselves how we win when we know forearms will hit our face, and knees willl come up high on forechecks.

Tonight was a good test for them. They needed this reminder. You can beat 95% of teams in this league playing the way you play. But how do we beat prison rules hockey? Figure that shit out. Tonight was the lesson.

The team had a 4-2 lead with 22 minutes to play in the game. The only "lesson" for tonight was that our starting goalie is a choke artist. It was a sloppy effort defensively for sure. But thats when you need a couple saves.

Elite in ECHL maybe, worst NHL goalie I have ever witnessed
He's off to a bad start but he is an elite NHL'er.

Seriously, you'll miss him when he's gone. He'll find huge success elsewhere. Bitch and moan all you want about his numbers but elite goalie have left with dismal numbers under Dustin Schwartz and found huge success elsewhere.

Is Skinner another victim of this? Probably

Prison rules don't apply to stupidity. Ekholm decided to turn stupid, Bouchard turned into a headache , and Skinner remained being the same old Skinner. Never beating this team with key players failing Draisaitl and McDavid every single time things are at stake. Unacceptable hockey by those 3 guys.

I know the top line created but I still think it was a mistake to mess with the top 6. Not that it was the reason they lose tonight. Was surprised to see them move away from that Draisaitl line so quickly.

Sealed the post?

He did seal the post. Are you suggesting he should have instead crouched down so that his helmet was completely under the bar?

Of all the goals, that’s probably the dumbest to whine about. There was no possible way for that to go in other than if it knocked off the back of his head. Great plays/shots happen, which is what that was.

Or not completely blow it defensively. Could have won that way too. But with 3M budgeted for goaltending, you better try that 2nd method.

Why exactly is 3M budgeted for goaltending?

Who thinks this is a smart idea? Trying to win a Cup by spending less on goaltending than rebuilding teams do to me sounds like charity to even the scales for other teams so they can beat us.

I didn't want to say this a few weeks back in the fear of getting ripped apart but I'm going to say it now. Nurse has been better than both Ekholm and Bouchard overall. The top pair has not been as good as it was last year and that's the main reason why I think another top 4 Dman is vital for Edmonton

Exactly. The club had been playing near perfect airtight defense for weeks just so Skinner could hang back facing hardly anything bobbing his head thinking "wow I'm great" Finally a team pressures us and gets some chances and gets to areas and Skinner folds like the cheap tent he is.

Skinner was garbage even last game. Got lucky after 3rd goal and on another 3 posts. Teams should try to work more shots from point. Every one of them has a chance if its off ice.

Any goal that goes in from there is a bad goal. Did you just start watching hockey smart ass?

So many of those goals against in the 3rd were preventable by just fixing simple problems.

The chances against, you are rolling the dice with most goalies in the league if you give them up in the first place.

Realistically, we have the goalie we have. So what is the coach going to do? Yell at Skinner until he becomes Prime Hasek?

Or do we fix the easily fixable issues in our own end?

Wow. The Stuart Skinner haters are out in full force tonight my goodness. He had one bad game out of 11 games and, now, he is awful.

This fanbase is disgustingly biased.

Bouchard and Ekholm were pretty much -6 tonight but thats just on Skinner?
Stuart Skinner will get slack for some bad games when he stops having overall numbers that squarely place him as one of the worst starting goalies in the league.

The mediocrity inside of Skinner was *dying* to come out and rain on the parade when the Oilers got up 5-0 in the Vegas game, you just knew that fraud was coming out. Jeff Skinner saved the Oilers ass that game because Skinner would've probably let it get to 5-4 and then who knows what happens from there in the last game.
