So many of those goals against in the 3rd were preventable by just fixing simple problems.

The chances against, you are rolling the dice with most goalies in the league if you give them up in the first place.

Realistically, we have the goalie we have. So what is the coach going to do? Yell at Skinner until he becomes Prime Hasek?

Or do we fix the easily fixable issues in our own end?
Trade for another goalie is the obvious solution.

Why exactly is 3M budgeted for goaltending?

Who thinks this is a smart idea? Trying to win a Cup by spending less on goaltending than rebuilding teams do to me sounds like charity to even the scales for other teams so they can beat us.
Ask 10 years of cap management/drafting/roster build up/buy outs/trades/signings and 3 GMs that question.

Our cap budget didn’t just happen over night. If we didn’t have 2 league Max tier players maybe we would have the budget for a $12M sheshterkin and we could try winning that way instead.

Any goal that goes in from there is a bad goal. Did you just start watching hockey smart ass?

Couldn’t have been anything to do with Reinhart making an unbelievable play. Happens all the time. Players looking up and shooting off a goalies head from behind the net. Such an obvious play.

For all the hockey you’ve watched, how many times have you seen that shot? Should be a lot of the goalie should plan for it. Right?

He did seal the post. Are you suggesting he should have instead crouched down so that his helmet was completely under the bar?

Of all the goals, that’s probably the dumbest to whine about. There was no possible way for that to go in other than if it knocked off the back of his head. Great plays/shots happen, which is what that was.
He should be standing to seal the post, not on his knees. One of his style issues is being on his knees when the puck is behind the net.

They could make a trade for another goalie that might be able to win games consistently with such high danger chances against

Bob was bad tonight, Skinner was even worse.

Dude--I watched he game-oilers played like shit!
But this board has two default settings EVERYGAME

1) Blame the refs
2) Blame Skinner and the goalie coach

Skinner sucked this game

IF you guys are serious that the refs are f***ing over the oilers under orders from the NHL?

Here are links to report the crimes

If you so convinced about it? Call the cops. As the NHL is now heavily involved in gambling--this is now RICO act level stuff in the US

Man up file a complaint if you are so sure
Bud-- I watched the game as well... do you honestly think the refs were fair and unbiased and there was no game managament in that game?

You may need a trip to Specsavers or any other local eye testing facility near you.

Ever think that a subpar game from both the Oilers AND the Panthers is possible AS WELL AS biased and crooked game management reffing... in a close game like this... it's that crooked reffing which actually made the difference... but you'll actually never even come close to admitting that.

And yes... I fully admit I'm an idiot to keep watching this trash league even though I know it's rigged and crooked.

You can upgrade in net any time. There's no law that says all of Evander Kane, Arvidsson, Jeff Skinner, etc. etc. etc. all need to be on the cap.

This organization doesn't want to because they are lazy and stupid and they gifted Florida a free Cup last year with their attitude in net, and for extra charity decided to give the struggling Panthers an early Christmas present this season too by gifting them this free win too to get them out of a funk. Up 4-2 late in the 2nd and this goalie gives up 4 goals in like 22 minutes, lol. Are you kidding me. Mikko Koskinen would win this game.

Ho ho ho, Stuart Skinner is the Panthers Santa Claus, bringing just what they need.

K who? And then maybe he wins us this one and loses us the Vegas game. And maybe we can’t afford the 2 goals from Kap and Brown cause we chose a pricier goalie.

At first I thought it was a classic Skinner goal, but then I saw the replay. Skinner's shoulder was pretty much right to the top of the post. I've never seen a player make that shot, probably because it looks absurd to try. But Reinhart 100% intended that shot. I'm not Skinner fan, not even close, but that's just a 1 in a million shot.

Lolol the craziness on the board tonight is entertaining. The Skinner haters were dying for a loss like this so they can continue ripping Stu into pieces.

I think you guys enjoy losing more

Exactly. If his name bar is against the cross bar that doesn't go in. That's probably on Schwartz as well.

Kevin Woodley, who is on Gregory's show regularly, says that style of goaltending when the puck is below the line is flawed and drives him nuts.

Send him down, I guess. Right?
Well he ain't that bad, but Bob had a terrible night but he somehow still looked better than Skinner. If it wasn't for our team out scoring vegas the other night, he would have costed them that game as well.

Replace Skinner with someone like Sorokin. Then you will see an elite goaltender.
