Skinner would never. At least he owns it I guess.

Yeah, I mean specifically who. Does the same person do it for every game? MP and NTS seem to give different data.Natural Stat trick is the source i am using
This.It wasn't the goaltending that got the Oilers there. They got to the pinacle despite subpar goaltending.
This is exactly what I said to the wife. In fact at 4-2 I was dreading what was upcoming and at 4-3 I wasn't sure I even wanted to watch the third. it was so clear Skinner was not on his game. Even in first period several pucks he failed to track from the point. Passes across he didn't get to but Florida fanned or missed shot (the same thing happened multiple times in the Vegas game where they were botching opportunities and or hitting posts.Seen this so many times, you knew once he allowed the fifth goal the 6th wasn’t too far behind
My 60 year old mother that doesnt watch hockey could even tell he didnt know where the puck was half the f***ing timeThis is exactly what I said to the wife. This is what Skinner is. A guy that can make expected saves when the team in front of him is perfect, and Skinner is in the sharper more alert phase of his game. Or the rattled Skinner that lasts indefinitely as well where you should just pull him out of there. Skinner was having one of his awful games where every chance seemed like it was going in.
Indeed the team must've realized this too because it was a very atypical game from a team that had been playing impeccable hockey. But in this game and the Vegas game a team that again had to be outscoring the brutal play of their flunkie goalie. I don't blame McD, Drai, Hyman, Ekholm, Nurse on this I blame an org that in 3yrs hasn't found better starter than clown Skinner.
For around 15 games the team has played pretty well and through the hardest stretch of that season. The team has even excelled during that stretch but of the course the guy in net, he rarely improves. He doesn't steal a big game in this moment. He's just there letting beachballs in.
I'm going to relax and watch Colorado lay a dirty beating on Vancouver.
I'm sure there's a methodology but it will be flawed just like everything elseYeah, I mean specifically who. Does the same person do it for every game? MP and NTS seem to give different data.
Agree. There were easily two of those that had no business going in. Three if you count the fluky double bounce plink off Skinner's back.Yes but that was a goal that had no business going in.
Yes we do if Skinner only gets 3 out of those 10 startsHonestly stats often lie. Watch the game the Oilers played great
Panthers are a hell of a team and we win 7/10 times
That’s what matters here

Not the fictional account in that tally. The Oilers had at least as good of play in that game and unlike Vegas had the sharpshooters going. See thats the thing regardless of chances either a team is on and feelng the scoring or its not. Eichel was awful in the game missing every shot or making bad plays. Stone was invisible. The Knights had no verve in that game and were either shooting directly into blocks, missing shots, fanning on shots or hitting posts. The Oilers were executing and finishing and Hill had several X more difficulty of saves.View attachment 946638
What game were you watching, exactly?
This. Blaming McD and Drai to defend Skinner is just headshakingly awful. Feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.It still is. Despite you thinking this is clever. It was a 1-1 game and the Oilers getting stoned on one end and Florida being lucky we didn't go ahead several times in the game, then Panthers get a nothing controlled rush up ice on the wing and Skinner is beat clean from range on a shot he should see. Just Skinner kneeling down like a cardboard cutout. The Panthers broadcast were going on and on about how much Skinner is down and laughing about it. Because they've seen this clown before.
Game 7 sC finals are notoriously low scoring. The best players in the history of the game have had these where they haven't got on board. Letting in a bad goal in a game 7 is inexcusable. Especially after the weaksauce playoffs Skinner had.
The Knights weren't confident? They had won 8 of their last 10 games. The Oilers finished for sure but the team still gave up 40+ shots. Sorry, but this is pure revisionist history on that game. The Oilers were bad in their own end but made the most of their offensive chances. I don't know by what metric anyone could call that game well defended. Not the fictional account in that tally. The HDSC and the expected goals doesn't feature, and isn't a stat that indicates that one team is confident, bossing it around the net, and another team isn't. If Skinner had faced the Oilers that night of the Vegas game they would have pumped in 10G.
Also this. Well said. Its interesting that even Ekholm was being called out by several posters today. The Viking that has come in here and given years of stalwart play and he has one off game and getting the gears. Skinner has 20 despicable games a season and several more in the playoffs and being defended by some in same game. Unreal.
See thats the difference. I don't blame McD, Drai, Ekholm, Hyman because they carry the team every year endlessly. I blame the player that is clearly worst at his position and has been now for 3yrs. I also blame Schwartz for defending this crap and the org trusting his goalie takes. lol
Hold up busy banking a shot off a goalies helmet from directly behind the net. His third goal was almost as shamefull that was a Nurse special muffin shot that bounced off his chest and off his player and into his net. No high end goalie absorbs shots as poorly as Skinner. Its 4-2 going into the third if not for Skinner but he doesn't deserve to be blamed.
But but he has a mustache and his hair is cool!!This. Blaming McD and Drai to defend Skinner is just headshakingly awful. Feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.
Exactly. Even said at the time and in the PGT that day that game 7's are historically low scoring, that each goal is absolutely crucial, and in the history of the game its often not the stars that are scoring those few goals. Many championships have been won having other players score those big deciding game goals. McD and Drai do it all for this club and have for a decade. But theres always gonna be some ingrates that say "how about that game, why didn't you get on the scorecard that game" as if you could just press a button and its that easy..This. Blaming McD and Drai to defend Skinner is just headshakingly awful. Feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.
And yet in games 1 and 2 neither did any scoring either.Exactly. he let in 2 goals in Game 7...TWOThis. Blaming McD and Drai to defend Skinner is just headshakingly awful. Feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.
again I ask, did you expect the Oilers to win 1-0? and why couldn't they score 2 goals?Exactly. you don’t seem to understand how being up 5-0 changes how you play. The Knights weren't confident? They had won 8 of their last 10 games. And yet the metrics show that the Knights were consistently outchancing the Oilers.you don’t seem to understand how being up 5-0 changes how you play.
The oilers were in control of the game and started sitting back
Nobody is saying people aren't allowed to criticize, I'm no apologist and will criticize with the best of them, that is everybody's right as a fan. But I just find it so strange that fans of this team will completely ghost when the team is winning and are absolutely NOT willing to give credit when it's due, but yet will be the first to kick sand in the player's faces when they struggle.I give credit where credit is due and I criticize when criticism is due. Skinner definitely came off an excellent stretch of hockey, and against two of the leagues best which is Minnesota and Las Vegas.
WITH THAT SAID, I am allowed to criticize when he sucks and he simply sucked last night. Very very very good chance we win that game with Pickard in net last night. Yes people overreact on this forum, that's sports. Oilers fans aren't the only ones to do it
It was a very entertaining game, but it is definitely frustrating as it's a game we should have and could have won with slightly better goaltending. Chalk it up to a bad night from Skinner and move on now. We have some winnable games coming out starting with a very inconsistent Bruins team
Skinner is an elite goalie. You'll miss him when he's gone
The Knights were not confident scoring. They'd even mentioned it in the telecast. Across whole month of December in 6GP Knights have only scored 16 Regulation goals, not a lot, only 2.5G/G rounded off. Nobody on the Knights has a hot hand. They don't have Marshassault, They're missing other players from last season and they're not playing with verve, they're just edging out some close games. Even in these games Hill has been stupendous lately and just shutting the door as he did in the first Edmonton game. Eichel has only scored 9G this season, terrible really, and Dorofeyev is cold after a hot start. Hertyle the Turtle never gets anything off us and only Barbashev is hot on the Knights team. The only player feeling it. One.The Knights weren't confident? They had won 8 of their last 10 games. The Oilers finished for sure but the team still gave up 40+ shots.
