Funny you say that.
Wife asked what was wrong with Bouchard tonight and I told her he looks drunk.

I think games like these highlight the need for a second pairing D. When Bouchard sucks, you need to drop his ice time to mid-lower teens. Can't do that with Stetcher and Emberson as the other two RD.

Oh I'm not just talking about Schwartz. I'm taking about purging the entire scouting staff.

I'm terrified of the Oilers trading Skinner away and adding some piece of garbage in return like Anderson or Reimer.
I don't think they should trade away Skinner. I think they need to add someone who can spell him out. Pickard isn't that guy.

Laughable to blame Skinner for that when Ekholm and Bouchard embarrassed themselves repeatedly the whole night. That game was so bad from the two of them that they almost owe their teammates an apology.

That may have been the worst game Bouchard has ever played, and Ekholm wasn’t far behind. Nurse had his moments of ineptitude too.

I tend to lean towards blaming goalie more than D a lot of the time, and I HATE the “defense needs to be better in front of him” excuse 90% of the time. This was one of those nights though IMO. Sloppy, bullshit hockey preceded most of the goals against, especially the key ones in the third when we imploded. f***ing morons decided to take a nice casual approach into the third with a one goal lead and the Panthers embarrassed them for it. Deserved.
100%

I knew once the game ended that the narrative on here would be mostly about Skinner.
It shouldnt be.
That was an embarrassing effort by most of the team.
There are a handful of players that had a good game tonight.

The Panthers know exactly how to beat this team.
The Oilers continue to be Floridas bitch.

Lots of people were talking about Lankinen. I think it was Serevalli who called it the sleeper pick up of the "off-season" when the Canucks acquired him.

See: Hill, Adin as well. But no, the only options in the entire league are allegedly Skinner, Talbot and “$8 million” goalies. This is the false dichotomy necessary to keep defending Stu.

Did you watch the Dallas series?

Which elite goalie do you have in mind?
It's funny how elite Dallas has been and despite having one of the best goalies in the league, they have yet to cash in.

Same with Winnipeg.

It's almost as if the team has changed and improved in front of him....Has this tandem played behind the same team Mike SMith did? Or Talbot?
Other than Ekholm is the team that much different than the 2022 team? Because people really forget how godawful Smith was after the Kings series.

Skinner wouldn't even be in the league if he had to play behind those systems.

Those goalies played behind much worse defensive systems, Knob/Coffey's system is about as good as it gets defensively for shot/chance suppression.

Constructing strawmen is not going to magically bestow Stu with a save percentage over .900, sorry.
Actually what you’ve done there is the strawman. Cause I never said it would. Talbot is brought up not to strawman anyone, but to say he’s not a sure bet and a gamble, just like Stu. Just like most any goalie in this league with our budget and even above it.

But having MacKenzie Blackwood would have?
He will torch SKinners #'s lolll

Everybody knew he was available

He is losing 2-0 to the Cucks right now and at about 0.900

0.944 his first game for COL

COL probably feels like they have Hasek in net compared to the guy sitting near Skinners metrics (Georgiev)

COlorado is also worse defensively than we are

Everytime Skinner shits the bed it's the same ~4-5 posters who just stuff their fingers in their ears and ignore what's looking them square in the face.

Such a waste of time arguing with you lot.

"But he stole game 6 against Dallas!!!!!!111!!!!1!!"

It was almost comical. He was that bad. After his shot hit Hyman in the face, I noticed that Ekholm took his place on the point for the remainder of the power-play while Perry replaced Hyman.

Bouchard should’ve been benched after the first period.

You painted the only other possibility as Cam Talbot. Tell me how that’s not a textbook strawman.

Yes it hugely different. The coaching change is a massive difference, Knob/Coffey's system is among the best defensive systems out there, it's a huge change.

Yet Skinner continues to find ways to be mediocre behind it. He's getting outplayed by an AHL plug now for the second year in a row (Pickard has better numbers in two years).

Oh if you can upgrade on Skinner by all means.

I just don't think this org will do it. They're lazy and awful at their jobs.

Yes, let’s trade assets and cap space for a goalie that may or may not get the oilers as far as Skinner and Pickard did last year
Honestly yes,
Doesn't really matter if the guy end up much better or just meh. Most nights meh performance give us a W.

We need to at least have a third warm body that could suit up if anything happens through post season.

The series that wouldn't even have happened if Pickard and the rest of the team hadn't heroically bailed out Skinner in the Nucks series?

Been watching Dallas for years. That team goes stone cold in playoffs every year at some point against any goalie. One year it was even to the flames and Markstrom. Dallas are just like that, and its their own nemesis. Skinner didn't look great against any other club.

Knob doesn’t understand accountability, simple as. He will let Bouch play like ass lest he insult the poor young multimillionaire. The same goes for the guy in net tonight.

Really? Aren't you the one who constantly has it out for the coach?
