Seth Jones with one of the worst giveaways I’ve seen

Turns out Seth Jones was built for the playoffs. Something we never would have known had he stayed rotting in Chicago. It’s interesting how many experts think they are smarter than Bill Zito.
A lot of dmen with Jones's physical traits often get rated poorly by advanced stats during the season also often look really great in playoffs where there is less time and space and added physicality. He's obviously got some good puck movement abilities which shines more in those situations

Is this where I go for the Seth Jones crow eating tour?

Dude's been phenomenal for Florida. Took over that game 7 last night.
Took a few games after the trade for Jones to learn the Panthers’ game. No cheating. No passengers. Everyone is committed to the sacrifice to win. He’s clearly a high iq player and figured out his role within that philosophy of how to play. He’s been so much better than he was in Chicago. He’s been fantastic.

I've said in the other thread, there was so much attacking every time he made a mistake as he learned the system, it was crazy. He played on a team that was as dialed in as ours was, it takes time to get it all down, he's been fantastic and still has room to grow.

Meanwhile, Carlo was his usual self.

Honestly. What the heck was that about. Only for a backup?

I was surprised. Like I wasn't expecting a 1st due to his mid play + contract left. But still.. that was like a minor return.

He looked like 23 year old Seth Jones last night. Phenomenal performance.
He's still a big, mobile #1D. It's not like he forgot how to play hockey, he was just playing on a garbage team where the coaching staff refused to hold their offensive players accountable defensively.

It's really unbelievable how underrated he became.

I’ve been saying for a long time he is as capable as anyone.

I would urge caution though, if you think ‘he figured it out.’

He didn’t. He is definitely not a ‘high IQ’ player.

He’s going to have an equally bad game soon. That’s what kind of player he is, bipolar. Really a frustrating player. You know he could be this guy, if he weren’t lacking something.

He was playing on a garbage team where frustration and lack of focus would often get the better of him*****

You mean teams matter?

Does this apply to Bedard too? Asking for a friend.
Whiskey doesn't like Bedard so he's 100% stating the Hawks were being held back from not benching Bedard more/it was making Jones look worse. But it's a poor reflection. Hawks under Richardson were the definition of low-event, "try and lose 2-1" kind of hockey, that's been the coach for 77.2 % of the last three years and Sorensen was only coach for 25 games when Jones was still there.

It's a lot harder to defend well on a bad team than it is to produce, especially when that team doesn't expect it's players to play a 200 foot game. The Chicago D are constantly left out to dry by their forwards.

But of course, I've said many times that Bedard would put up better numbers with a true play driving center. But he's not gonna go from 67 points to 90-100+. And on a better team he won't be allowed to cheat for offense like he does now.

Like, in a system like the Hurricanes, I don't know if he'd really be any more productive. Teravainen was more productive in Chicago than he had been in recent seasons in Carolina.
