Seth Jones with one of the worst giveaways I’ve seen

Been saying before he got drafted that he reminds me so much of Jay Bouwmeester, his career has pretty much mirrored Bouwmeesters.

High draft pick with tons of hype early on in his career, rangy player that can eat a ton of minutes but makes life easy for his opponents with soft defence, moderate offence, overpaid due to his early career hype, etc.

Florida just needs him to be St Louis Bouwmeester so I think it will work out fine

Sure you’re not talking about Dion Phaneuf?

Judging a player off 1 bad play
Not only that, but he had 3 Sens in a triangle, pushing him. Only options would be flipping the puck out of the zone or turn around and protect it along the boards.. Probably option 4 or 5 for him in that situation, but like I said, he had no time to think or act.

Wasn't that bad.

It was pretty bad. So under pressure and after looking over his shoulder, still threw the back hand pass from the corner into a dangerous area? That's just low IQ which we see from him all the time.

I haven’t been impressed by Jones so far.

He looks slow. But the worst thing is that he doesn’t seem to be a smart player. Very low hockey IQ.

Maybe Zito just did his first big mistake?

Ekblad is so much better! No way Jones will « replace » Ekblad.

He’s had quite a few very dumb and costly mistakes in his short time here. Probably is being overused with the lack of depth on the back end right now but man he’s been rough

He's been awful. Panthers fans don't know what they are going to do with this guy. A lot of hope he magically figures it out next season. We'll see what happens with Ekblad I guess to see where he is expected to play

Seems at times he will choose the risky play attempt over a safer alternative. He’s also had his good moments, too. But, there’s certainly been some plays that leave you scratching your head.

He's always been a bozo. He was good enough back in his Jackets and Nashville days, but he's lost a step since then and has never really evolved his game. Never understood the hype even back in the 2013

He just needs to wash years of losing out of his system. He was trending upwards when Chicago signed him to this contract.

What happened to this guy? I thought he would do so well in Florida, guy was surrounded by garbage in Chicago. Got a chance to play with some real players and he hasn't looked good

With a thread title like that, I assume this was maybe your second or third time watching a hockey game?

Let's clarify a couple things here...The OP is a Maple Leafs fan with an agenda. That's part of it.

But they are right in that it's one of the worst turnovers you will see and can make. Like obviously guys fan on passes right in front of their own net sometimes or puck hops over their stick etc for easy goal against. That's moreso bad luck/misfortune.

That play by Jones was purely intentional to throw the puck to that area on his backhand and blindly. It's not excusable. He's a dumb player and it's one of the worst decisions and plays you will see an NHL player make.

It's a puck thrown out into the slot from the corner in error. Happens hundreds of times a season, its a big error but making a thread over this is hilarious.

For example, the Harley/Ceci collision yesterday was 10x more egregious a f*** up and I don't see a thread on that.

The discussion about Jones aside - that was not an unusual giveaway. Jones thinks Bennett is coming in close support position for a breakout, which is where you'd often expect your center to be, and instead Bennett peels away to the soft side. It was just a miscommunication between the two, and a very very common one that happens in the league every night. I think there's a lot of hockey fans here in this thread that know that but they are so eager to dump on a guy that they forget how the game is played.

That’s not even the worst Seth Jones turnover Ive ever seen, let alone one of the worst ever…
