...Jones doesn't want to play in Canada...much like Suter...end of dream...
I'm not sure about Sutter.
I don't know about Jones. Makes no sense at all. This isn't a junior that thinks Canada is all WinterPeg.....

They won't have to. If Montreal is the only competitor and Jones doesn't want to sign there, all Chicago has to do is wait until he hits free agency.
I think teams will prefer to take that risk, instead of paying a prohibitive price.I honestly don't think teams are that dumb. Too much can happen in a year, both for a team like Chicago and especially the player. He's not going to risk having a bad year, getting hurt, Chicago spending money elsewhere. If that's where he wants to go, he'll get there soon.
Doesn't want to play in Canada.
No guarantee he'll stay.
If Weber is LTIR'd I'd say they go after Hamilton.
Though, not sure on the rumours surrounding him
I bet Seth Jones is a Hab soon if Weber is LTIR. Bergevin's probably all over it, in his final contract year ultimate blockbuster deal then signs him long term.
Then he makes a Kucherov and plays 3rd pair RD in the playoffs.
Jones-Chiarot
Petry-Edmundson
Weber-Romanov
Not bad!
That Kucherov loophole will get abused with those older players for sure.
Anyways, Montreal already had the assets, but now they have the cap to make it happen.
What would Jarmo take for Jones?
My offer:
1st 2022
Kotkaniemi
LHD prospect not named Guhle (Norlinder/Harris/Struble)
Fair?
Calm down, Kyle! We're not negotiating with you here. Not even close! KK who was a healthy scratch for last 2 games of the finals doesn't get you anywhere near a legit top 4 rhd man.
THere's a big difference betweem Jones and Hamilton imo. Jones has the possibility to carry a whole D squad, not Hamilton.Doesn't want to play in Canada.

Hamilton had a rough time in Calgary and a messy split. Eberle has spoken about how difficult it is to play under the microscope, in a Canadian market.
Is Jones' reluctance to play in Canada because of the intense media and fan attention?
It's not like Canada is on the other side of the world. I once worked with someone from India, who said when he travels home for visits, it's an 18 hr flight with a layover. Now, that's a hassle.Dude is from the US and has never played in Canada. So why would he go to Canada in UFA unless the money difference is gigantic (which it won't be)?
Would you leave your country if you didn't have to? I certainly wouldn't. Atleast I certainly would not agree to a SnT when my other option is Chicago...

It's more of a minor hassle, but all else equal it's not a hassle Seth would want. His family and friends are in the States, why add a several hours flight anytime he wants to get anywhere? It's especially difficult to get direct flights from Winnipeg and Edmonton.
While most people - and most players - may not have any issue living and playing in Canada, Seth Jones isn't most people. For one, he's very right wing and pro-USA / pro-Trump if his social media is any indication. It's not like Canada is on the other side of the world. BTW, Kotkaniemi has twice the number of playoff goals than Mitch Marner.
Marner was never scratched in the Stanley Cup Finals though, I'll give you that.

If we trade KK. I'd prefer in package for Eichel.
Why do Montreal fans think KK has some great value ?
3 years in and he's still not even a 40 point player.
GMs aren't going to wait forever for him to maybe be a 50 point 2C, which looks like his ceiling.

Based of his potential, he have some great value. He play very well in playoff. In bubble too.
"which looks like his ceiling"
Ridiculous take, he just turned 20yo a week ago and was a major player impact in Mtl's push.
Only looking at stats is a pretty thin way to define young hockey players.
I remember proposing Matthews for PLD+Jones and was laughed at. Now KK is an over pay?Is this a joke?
Lollll KK + who knows what overall 1st in a great draft year and another prospect worth a 1st for jones?
Habs wouldn't trade KK alone for jones.
He didn't turn 20 a week ago and he's going into year 4 in the league.
He's not good.
Your right he didn't turn 20 a week ago. He did however turn 21 a week ago.
