I haven't.

I'm the only one here taking the wait and see approach.

It's good if Knight stays above .910 in his prime.

Wtf am I reading?

For the last 3 years you've drove the "Jones is a bum" train. You've said he's not a 1st pair D. You've said he shouldn't be on the PP. You're named 30 right shot D that are better than him. Just as recently as a couple days ago you said you would gladly take futures for him just to get him off the roster. Now that's he's traded you're on the fence with what Davidson got back?

You can't have your cake and eat it too. He's either a bum with negative trade value or a good player who got a really good return. Pick a lane.

What if they draft Gajan with the '26 1st? What if they draft Pastrnak?

The value at the time of the trade is Excellent. They got an up and coming goalie who will only get better and a pick in the 22-32 draft range.

Ah yes, the typical Musto approach of “wait and see”. So refreshing.

I am sorry, have you met Musto? Not only can he have his cake and eat it too, he can grab fistfuls of his cake and throw it at random strangers walking by. He can also complain about cakes that were never bought, and in the odd case where he receives a cake he asks for, he will “wait and see” if it gives him diarrhea later.

I am so thankful for the ignore function.

Gets confuisng sometimes when you see responses to nonsense posts and they dont mention who they are responding to. As I dont see these posts, I just figure that Musto or Word Salad are up to their usual shenanigans and am again thankful for the ignore function.

exactly. at worst, the trade is a B+. FWLIW (very little, lol), Laz gave it a C. wtf? if Knight hits, this is an A, all day, every day

honestly think giving up on Reichel would be a mistake unless a comparable player is coming back in a hockey trade
I love Reichel and even if it is wishful thinking, I think he is going to turn out fine. It will be nice to see what players like Reichel and Korchinski can accomplish as the roster fills out with more skill around them. Hard to shine between Smith and Maroon

This trade worked out fine for the Hawks. It was obvious that Jones was a cancer in the locker room. Anytime Jones was not in the lineup, the Hawks played much better. Getting a 1st and a decent goalie for a defense man who was a cancer in the locker room is a big plus. Kudos to Davidson on making the right trade.

We don’t want them to out tank us

The outcome of the pieces of the trade doesn’t directly determine if the trade was good or not. 2026 1st has value, if you draft poorly that’s a completely different conversation.
So if Knight were to either flame out, or become a top 5 goalie in the league, that has no impact on if the trade was good or not?

I suppose sending Mrazek down is an option. But sending a veteran down who you just signed to a two-year extension looks bad. Especially to players and agents around the league.
If what you say is true, Hawks could keep Mrazek up, not play him, and buy him out in the offseason.

I don't think that potential UFA signees would be upset in either case. KD was very generous on both the Mrazek and especially the Brodie deals.

Yes. You judge a decision based on the information available at the time of the decision, not the future result which is unknowable. Based on Knight's potential and the value of a 1st round pick, this is a good trade. Whether Knight reaches his potential or KD makes a good draft picks is a totally different matter.

To use an analogy, Seth Jones doing a weak flip shot wrister from the blue line on the power play is always a bad decision, even if he gets lucky and it sneaks by the goalie.

Good deal. Idk what they're going to do with Mrazek for the rest of the season. I imagine they buy him out in the summer.
