montreal coach "we just beat the best team in the league"

im telling you, theyre gonna overlook us. this series is gonna be letdown city for them.

Interesting connections and story lines;

For the Rangers you have AV who began his NHL coaching career in MTL, Dom Moore went to the ECF with them, and of course Raphael Diaz.

For Montreal, JJ Dagneault was instrumental in developing the Rangers top 3 D of McD, G, and Staal. You also have our old friends Prust and Weise.

Lucic steamed when told that Weise revealed their conversation in handshake line: "If he wants to be a baby about it, he can go right ahead"

Drama!

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 1m
Weise says Lucic threatened him in the handshake and said something similarly threatening to Emelin. Emotional series ends with tough words.

hahaha

Hey Rangers fans. Don't mind the idiots, most Montreal fans have no dislike for the Rangers at all.

I like Lundqvist and like Vigneault. Hope it's a great series and if you guys win I hope to see you raise the stanley cup.
I could accept a loss to MTL more easily than a loss to the Bruins. I caught a NYR-MTL game at Bell a few years ago and I was treated with far more respect than I got in Philly, NJ, and especially BOS. And the deeply passionate MTL fans have to be respected.

To a good series!

Anyone else worried about us going 7 in the first two series? It was one of the reasons we were so burnt out 2 years ago although our play style is obviously much different.

Nash again is the x factor going forward. Without him contributing, the series no doubt goes 7. If he can get on a roll, I can see us winning in 5 or 6. Those few more days of rest can be crucial.

MTL used their speed well against the Bos defense. Our boys are going to have to be quick. We need traffic in front of Price. Hank needs to be Hank.

Gonna be tough. We don't really play well in their building.

@reporterchris: P.K. Subban: "I feel sorry for any team that has to come into our building and our city."

Bulletin board material. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about the Bell. Having been there twice for sat night games, it's an incredible experience and i imagine a very intimidating place to play. Maybe a 1pm start helps dull the energy a bit? Prob not, but one can hope.

Also, while its a bit scary, lets not underestimate how excited Quebecers like MSL, Brass (even Pouliot, although i think hes from Ontario) should be for this. Could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for them.

I know I'm excited. LGR!

I'm so glad we got rid of Boston. Now we actually got a chance to go for the Cup :)

Rangers and Habs match up when it comes to physical play and skills, gonna be a great series, but not a lot of goals. Two best goalies in the league.

True but history is definitely not on our side.

We also only had one overtime game that ended fairly quickly.

No Rangers team ever won a series being down 3-1. No goalie ever won 5 game 7s in a row. No Rangers team ever beat the Penguins in the playoffs. Has a team ever gone to the conference finals with their leading goal scorer in the regular season goalless in the playoffs?

I wonder how St. Louis plays in Montreal. It'll be his first time I think as a Ranger in their building.

Rangers have played two long grueling series but we are healthy. We have depth. If anything all those games in such a short time period and we won three in a row in the end against a team that had us on the ropes and that almost universally was considered a superior team as well as being well rested. I don't think the Rangers are gassed. I think they're in very good shape.

I don't see this as a cakewalk. It could be another 7 games. To win the Cup the Rangers might need the maximum 28 games.

history wasnt on our side against pittsburgh, that team owned henrik for years. and we had never beaten them in the playoffs.

More 1996 fun. This is from the regular season. The MTL french announcers literally sound half in the bag at the start of this clip....
