Have you been to a pens/jackets game? It's almost unbearable. I went to one of the wins this season against the Pens and afterwards it was all pens fans shouting

"how many cups do you have guys?"

"how many playoff series have you won"

Crosby/Malkin have made them forget their losing ways. It's time we remind them what its like to play golf in April.

I know I'm not alone in saying I want to beat the Pens just to shut their fans up.

I haven't been to a Pens game for a long time as I don't live in OH any more. I do know when I was there that they were annoying as hell and half of them were from Columbus. A good portion of them were cocky, arrogant and condescending. So yeah I can sympathize with you. They have no idea how lucky they were to get Crosby and Malkin right after Mario and Jagr.

But the good news is that much like the Wings this year, their time is coming to be at the bottom again.

I really don't understand this perception by Pens fans that the Jackets are an unskilled dirty team who wants to injure their players and that the CBJ fans want the same. I understand if they singled out Dubi for a couple of things he has done to Crosby but Sid has taken his fair share of shots/slew foots at Dubi too. Other than that I don't get it.

Am I seeing the team through Jackets colored glasses and they are dirty or are the Pens fans seeing it through Pens colored glasses and are placing blame for their injuries where it doesn't belong?

I can imagine it. Dubi crosses the line from time to time. So does Hartnell. Combine that with the hitting of Anderson, Foligno, and Jenner, and I can see how they think that way. If I was a Pens fan I hope I would recognize that Hartnell is mostly just silly antics, and the hitting is all fair play. I don't have a problem with them complaining about Dubi. He's earned it.

Other than Malkin and Crosby how much skill do the Pens have on the Jackets? I'd say negative.

I think Hartnell and Calvert need to be rested before the playoffs. Hartnell looks worn out. Calvert even worse, he isn't half as effective as he used to be.

You can always reply by asking how many bankruptcies they've had.

I'm fine with the CBJ being an irritant - but it will be glorious to knock them out. Not sure it can happen, but I bet it'll be quite a fight.

They pretty much think this about the entire league in general. It's fed by their idiot broadcasters. Every tap is portrayed as a near decapitation. Yet, this is an organization who pays Tom Sestito, Patric Hornqvist and once adored Matt Cooke.

Like I said if Dubi was singled out I would understand. But Anderson, Foligno and Jenner? They just play hard. JMFJ will lay you out but its always clean.

I replied to a couple "well you've been a franchise for what 50+ years? How long have you been a fan? since the Crosby draft? Or when they won the cup the first time with Crosby?

Replace Pittsburgh with Chicago and Crosby with Kane/Toews and you're talking to a majority of Blackhawks fans.

He might not be skating yet. A fall could make things worse.

Soooo do I have to do all the thinking around here? Plus it will get him used to leaning on a penguin.

This is exactly correct. I had the Pens feed the last game and by the end of the game I was questioning everything I thought I knew.

Yes. The Blackhawk fans have been the best fans in the league since 2010. They rock the UC right now, but 20 years ago they couldn't get 10k in that place. 10M people in the metro area.. pathetic..

1. I didn't care about tonight's game and now the next two are meaningless. Play Korpi and just don't get anyone else hurt.
2. If Werenski comes back, I think the Jackets pick up their play and this is a tough series that they win. My theory all along is that they've been mightily struggling since the clinch just as they did after the streak-- a young team undergoing a massive letdown.
3. People are talking like the Jackets are a bunch of grinders. They may not have elite forward skill, but they have a number of skilled forwards who just haven't played like it. I think we see better O in the playoffs... and I sure hope that's the case.
4. Believe most or all of the playoff tickets were sold before Pens were certain to be the opponent, so that should mean that there are few of the usual Pens frontrunners there. There weren't very many there during the playoffs a few years back, and it was awesome. Nothing like the garbage CBJ fans have to put up with during regular season games.

They don't understand their own history. I grew up in Pittsburgh during the Pens' formative years (the Penguins started playing when I was 1) and the team was mostly bad. If you chart the team's first decade-and-a-half of existence, it doesn't look that much different that the CBJ's, save for the occasional bankruptcy, but on-ice the results are pretty similar. And that's in a league with fewer teams. I loved the team anyway, much as I have done in my adult life with the Jackets.

This is why I hate playing the Penguins in the playoffs. Those are my people in a way, but in these situations I want nothing more than for them to shut up. (If you'd have told me 20 years ago that my greatest sports moment as a fan experiencing it live would be a game in which a Pittsburgh team lost - and yeah I'm talking about game 4 - I'd have told you you were a dope.)

I'm not sure that's true.

I expect a Torts-coached CBJ team to beat the **** out of an injury-prone Penguins team. There's no reason you shouldn't make it to the ECF unless Bobrovsky turns into a pumpkin.

Jackets should win in 5.

I don't know of any CBJ players who have ever destroyed another player's finger with a slash, or who have sucker-punched another guy in the taint while he was tangled up with someone else.

I do know that Sidney Crosby has done both of those though.

They pretty much think this about the entire league in general. It's fed by their idiot broadcasters. Every tap is portrayed as a near decapitation. Yet, this is an organization who pays Tom Sestito, Patric Hornqvist and once adored Matt Cooke.

Don't forget about Ulf Samuelsson.

Some may not want to admit it but the team continuity changed when Ryan Murray went down. Add Werenski to the gone list and this team is in trouble. They need 5 to generate offense and the zone coverage has gotten awful. This isn't a team that has the skill or pedigree to just turn it on.

Going to get laughed out of first round with their current play and the Pens get Malkin back too.

The Blue Jackets beat the Pens by physically taking advantage of them. Dumping the puck in behind their mobile defense and using their size to wear them down. If one of them breaks in the process, no apologies about that. So, hitting hard is dirty to Pens fans.

I don't think anyone is any dirtier than Hornqvist or Kunitz, but they don't see it that way.....ok they hate Kunitz now. The first time Hornqvist runs Bob, ask them about it. It will happen quickly.

Rooting for you guys.
