Let him marinate in WBS. Blomqvist can be our transitionary 1G. Once we get the new core pieces and the tide turns, it's Murashov time.

Kinda disagree with this. Russian's are notorious flight risks. Murashov has already been relegated to the ECHL. If he is performing how he is now next year you gotta give him a shot.

And was fine with being in the ECHL. He's now in the AHL and continues to dominate. And he could very well earn the shot. Most goalies don't make the NHL right away. Spending 2-3 years in the AHL is hardly unusual. He's only in the ECHL due to our overwhelming number of good caliber goalies.

And he's specifically said how much he's enjoyed his time in the ECHL and how valuable it's been.

I love how we're just making things up to complain about and worry about now.

I think if he’s NHL ready you play him.

We saw what happened with Askarov.

let him finish the year in the AHL and start him there next year. If he’s playing well call him up around Christmas. That’s one full year down there.

And hopefully Sullivan is gone by the time he is called up.

I don’t think he’s a significant flight risk but I think it’ll help having some Russians around. In the A right now he’s got Knyzhov and Pono. Pono might be up in the NHL next year and Knyzhov hits the ol’ dusty trail this summer, so might be time to try and bring Ilyin over.

So exactly what I said.
i thought you wanted him starting with the team next year

id be bringing Ilyin over as fast as possible. this team needs centers in the system even if they have limited upside

Yeah I don't see him being a risk. We don't have an established goalie blocking him. Maybe he could become discontented if he sees Blomqvist or Larsson come up and cement themselves as the #1 starter but I'm sure he's well aware that Jarry/Ned aren't the long term answers for the team.

Americans have the risk of getting fat. Why put all people of a nation in the same basket?

Murashov gives interviews all the time, most recently a few days ago where he talked about Jarry. He's happy to play anywhere and is more interested in learning about the country than where he's playing.

Because sports are about leverage and if Murashov continues to produce in the minors he’ll have leverage.

I don’t really see what is controversial about what I said. If Murashov is putting up the insane numbers he is in the AHL all year next season why would we not call him up? We did it with Matt Murray.

Gut instincts tell me it’s best for him to stay down in WBS, win a bunch, win a championship, win playoff MVP, come up to Pittsburgh feeling like a hot shot getting fat NHL paychecks, emerge as the immediate Calder and Vezina favorite, the Rangers protect their pick this year so we get next year’s and they implode, Murashov Calder, Vezina, Hart, Lindsay, Jennings, Conn Smyte, Stanley Cup, the Rangers “win the lottery”, we draft McKenna, run it back to back, Murashov signed to the biggest extension in NHL history, we never lose a game ever again.

…maybe got carried away that, but yeah, see how much he can win at that level and if he wins the job in camp let him run with it.

Because James Neal concussed MAF. Otherwise Murray likely doesn’t come up or at least get a significant look until the following year.
