Speculation: Sens need to trade a core player

there’s a few reasons. #1 was that his first season was his only season with Tavares on the team, and teams were focused on stopping him, not Barzal. Then Tavares leaves and we get Barry Trotz who drastically changed the system and made a huge focus on turning Barzal into a 200 foot player. He also never really had a bonafied first line player on his line until last year with Horvat. I agree that he hits 100 in the right situation.

Anyway a Barzal trade would need to involve Tkachuk or Stutzle, and we add.
I would definitely consider Tkachuk for Barzal+ if we're able to move Norris. Having a Stutzle-Barzal 1-2 punch is a potential 200+ point duo.

I really do wonder if this off-season sees a Tkachuk trade request. And at that point, maybe he pulls a Matthew and strong arms his destination.

Ottawa is my second favorite team. When I look at this team my concern is what is behind the bench.Green Baumgartner Yeo was a cluster f__k in Vancouver.I hated them there and now hating them on the Sens...I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel until they are gone.Very bad coaches.

What's the market value for Zub or Jensen? Probably not core guys but Vancouver would be interested in 1 of them and can send a return around Myers and Hoglander back.

Brady's NMC kicks in this June, so if we wanna trade him has to be well before then or else as you said, he will strong arm his destination.

However he's under contract and not an RFA like Matthew so OTT doesn't have to honor any trade request

Ottawa is an interesting team. They need some players who have a defense first orientation. They don't have enough of that. Backlund, Coleman and Weegar from the Flames would all be good targets.

Matthew was an RFA without a contract. Brady’s under contract for another 3 years after this. Unless he straight says he won’t play then you tell him no and keep trying to turn the team around and make them competitive to try and entice him to stay.

Imo Stutzle is the guy they should move. One for one for a hard to play against forward. A guy to compliment Tkatchuk. Not that this would happen, but a guy who plays like Suzuki.

Stutzle is the last guy they should move. 22nd best PPG in the NHL since he turned 20 y/o... They have to build around him.

They should have kept Chychrun and traded Chabot. Been saying it the entire time.

Pinto or Norris makes the most sense after him.

Chabot has been one of the best D-men in the league so far this season, all top in advanced metrics. Sanderson started to struggle when paired with Hamonic (what a surprise!) then even now that Zub is back, who is obviously not back to be himself yet. That pairing not even close to the level they were last season has been the problem, not Chabot's pairing.

Chabot has been one of the few bright spots on the team... but I wouldn't mind seeing him change scenery, he deserves it to finally be on a competitive team.

I know every fan is trying to pry Tkachuk out with a less than value package, but if I’m Fitzgerald, I would try and see if something could get done around a Meier for Tkachuk swap.

Meier does have an NMC so it might be all moot, but would love to have Brady on the Devils. Meier hasn’t quite fit in well to date either.

Yet, this is the worst proposal I have seen for Tkachuk, by a comfortable margin.

At this point I don't think the coaching is the problem. They've gone through all sorts. At the end of the day, your best players need to be good enough to win hockey games. It's very clear in watching the Sens that you simply cannot expect to win on a regular basis with guys like Tkachuk, Norris, Chabot making what they do and being in the roles they are. Add in Giroux finally taking a step back, Perron probably being too old for a top 9 role, and you have a roster with a lot of holes even if it doesn't look that way at first glance.

It's the level of talent, not the coaches.

They only have been led by DJ... and a few months of Jacques Martin where they started to look like a good team for real, not just because they were playing "relaxed". After 3 weeks, metrics were pretty good to end the season and tangible results too.

Not saying it's all on the coaches though. There is definitely a problem with the core, they went to a really BAD SCHOOL, look at my avatar, DJ Dorion hockey is bad for you

Any interest from Sens fans in Svechnikov as a base for a Tkachuk trade? What would you be looking for on top of Svech to make it a fair deal if so?

Jackson Blake and a prospect?

They dont need to move Norris they need to find legit players for Norris to play with, the guy has an unreal shot and seems to find the open ice all the time, the problem is his line never passes the puck to him while he is waiting to shoot. They have a weird mix
Batherson should go after how many years of playing and he is still trying to one man team the win every shift.

Not high on Svechnikov? I’ve always liked him, granted he’s got a hit of injury history. I just thought he was a solid fit in Carolina.

The scenario I’m envisioning is he demands a trade and after this season he has the NMC leverage. Yeah, he’s under contract and they can tell him to kick rocks, but in all reality the organization always caves.

Ok il continue being patient, how many more Novembers do I have to be patient for with this core before some major changes happen?
Idk, I'm not Staios and it's only his first full November. This is a glorified game of chance at the end of the day, there are no definites and what works one day may not work the next

The Sens true core is:

Tkachuk
Stutzle
Sanderson
Chabot

I don't see any of those guys being moved. It's more likely to see a secondary piece moved like:

Batherson
Norris
Giroux

He’s always blown hot and cold and has some frustrating tendencies to his game like taking unnecessary penalties. His lack of chemistry with Aho and Jarvis so far has been a major concern, despite it still being early days. Think he could see better days in a run and gun duo with Stutzle, and I couldn’t think of anyone better than Tkachuk to complete what would be one of the best lines in hockey with Aho and Jarvis.

He could be but if you can't ever get to the playoffs, who cares?

You just get to a tough reality which is that the current mix isn't good enough, you can keep rolling it back but it'll likely never change unless you get some hot shot draft picks which makes you deeper/better or you swindle another team in a trade.

The Leafs are in that predicament too, it should be a no brainer to extend Marner and JT but because we haven't had playoff success, no rush.

If Brady Tkachuk is available, I would consider anyone not named Tage Thompson or Rasmus Dahlin in a deal. If it's Owen Power, so be it but I'm not giving up much more. If it's Peterka, maybe a bit more. If it's someone not on the roster, I would be willing to pay a steep price. Probably three of our top prospects and a 1st.
