Speaking of skunks... thanks to global warning, we need to worry about skunk encounters in february:

Last month, I was walking back to my backyard to make sure my fire was out (it's a solo stove - so safe), after spending a few unexpected hours of beverage drinking on a neighbour's porch... I was a little inebriated, and it was around 1 or 2 am so I did not notice this animal about 4 feet away from me... I walked over to the fire, had looked and turned around to head back to the house.... out of the peripheral, i see a skunk in full spray position.... luckily he realized i was just a drunk guy and withheld sharing the fragrance.
Talk gently to them in a low voice!

That's what I did to momma skunk and her baby!

Hehe. There's not actually a lot of kinds of mushrooms you can grow artificially. Normal button mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, plus the fun kind...
I've really gotten out of the habit of cooking with mushrooms since I had kids. Don't get me wrong, I put meticulous care into getting them to eat and like vegetables, but part of that is picking your battles, and mushrooms are a bit of a hard sell when so many adults even turn their noses up at them.
I love mushrooms.

As a kid, we would go foraging for wild mushrooms, and some of the fondest memories were just spending a Sunday afternoon in the woods and the excitmenet of finding a batch. My mom would clean them and then deepfry them, Just magical flavour. Love porcinis, and when in Italy there is nothing finer.

Still forage form time to time...shaggy manes are easy to spot

Mushrooms on pizza and in the curries my family makes are the best. Easily my favourite veg/fungus/whatever

about 10 years ago, a skunk nested bellow my neigbour's shed. I would see him/her all the time.. So, I called him/her: Fluffy.

One late evening, my neighbour is out having a cigarette, Old Fluffy decided to pay a visit. I guess in one giant leap, she was back indoors.

The next day, she tells me the story..

I am dying of laughter.

Fluffy was just being playful. Wanted to snuggle.. I will never forget that story.

I had my own run in about 20 years ago with one. I swear, in 2 or 3 steps, I must have covered 10 yards of retreat!!!!

oh that is hype! look at that!
Watch the CFB (Canadian Film Board) documentary of men and sports.. or of sports and men. I cannot remember.

Footage from all sorts of sports form 1949-1955 roughly. It is unreal.

Monaco grand prix, before the pool and the marina was built up. The original Monza track. The 1950 Tour de France. The Habs from roughly 1954.. you see Habs and Redwings players.. A young Gordy Howe.

What I am guessing was the 1950 FA cup. It had the Duke of Windsor there (The one time king who abdicated in 1936)

Incredible footage.

I wish TSN or Sportsnet would get a hold of these films and play them. It would be a phenomenal educational exercise.

The CFB has one or two or three documentaries from the 1950's on hockey

Why are we rehashing a study that was debunked for being wildly misleading two years ago?

The headline of the first one is a prime example of outright science illiteracy, 1,850 times in the original study was a comparison of tire wear on ice vehicles vs tailpipe emissions on ice vehicles, so unless ICE vehicles don't have tires, it will never be 1,850 times higher. That study then extrapolated that heavier BEV would likely wear out tires quicker, and as such, we need to consider that when evaluating.

The extreme results though were under conditions that simply weren't realistic (a VW golf on a track with the maximum permitted payload for the vehicle, taking corners hard but following legal road speeds). When you apply some basic logic, it falls apart.

A press release by Emissions Analytics suggested that particulate matter pollution from car tyre wear can be 1,000 times higher than car exhaust emissions, and that car tyres may produce as much as 9.28 grams of particulate matter per mile, or 5.8 grams per kilometre. This is, however, a worst-case scenario – a crucial point that is not mentioned in the press release and which has consequently led to the ‘1,000 times higher than car exhaust emissions’ finding being widely reported in the media. Some common-sense calculations show how extreme this case is.

A typical 16” family car tyre weighs around 9 kg, so four of them on a vehicle gives a total weight of 36 kg. That’s not just the tread, but the full tyres. If a car did shed 9.28 grams of particulate matter per mile from the tyres, then the car tyres would physically disappear – and the car would be running on its alloys – in less than 4,000 miles.

In reality, the tread of a tyre is about 35% of the tyre’s total weight, so the tyres would be bald in less than 1,358 miles, or two months’ worth of driving for the average UK driver.

There is some truth to EV's being heavier, and potentially wearing out tires faster, but once again, you post sources that sensationalize and exaggerate to the point of being utter nonsensical, and one has to wonder whether ulterior motives lie behind the rush to put out click bait claims that don't hold up to scrutiny.

I've been looking at the mach E, might be my next purchase, it's that or renovate the kitchen, I haven't decided yet, nice to see you're still changing topics the moment your bs gets called out, never change.

The EV will likely save me money over the lifetime it's lifespan given my use case, but let's not let the facts get in the way,

Both purchases are both likely to happen (not necessarily the specific model mind you) just a matter of the order, not that your "financial advice" would ever impact any decisions I make.

So are you going acknowledge you were posting outright falsehoods yet or do you stand by the article's sensationalistic headline that only makes sense if ice vehicles don't have any tire wear?

The environmental impact of EVs, starting from the mining of minerals, transportation of those minerals, and the difficulty in recycling their batteries are as much, if not greater than an ICE vehicle….. much worse if the electricity used to recharge the battery is from fossil fuels.. which in most cases it is.

So I guess the answer to my question is no, you're not willing to acknowledge you posted clear misinformation? I don't really have the time or desire to fact check everything you post and clearly you don't feel it's important to ensure your own posts are accurate, it would be one thing if you just didn't realize what you were posting was outright false and misleading, but it's become pretty clear the truth isn't what your after, instead the most generous interpretation of your actions is you just want to see things that support your view regardless of whether it stands up to even the very minimal amount of scrutiny.

When I see electric vehicles being hooked up to gas-powered generators (within the confines of said vehicle) it leads me to ponder how far we've come and how far we still have to go.
Well about 600kms til the next charge....😁

Wife got a Mach E a few months back. PM if you have any questions about it. She's really happy so far.

Classic depreciating asset versus appreciating asset dilemma you have on your hands.

Anyone trying to go to a sugarbush this year? Was going to take my gf to her first fresh maple syrup experience but the weather is killing the chances for a good experience.

Getting ready for the golf season...

Jesus christ that looks terrible. Are they adding shitty tequila vodka because that weak ass beer won't get them day drunk enough? Blech.

I think Thompsontown is up and running - at least collecting sap. They serve a pretty good brunch and it's fairly close!
