I bit the bullet and bought The Last of Us Remastered. I loved it the first time through but I'm really not finding the 60 FPS to make much difference. The remastered character models look good in the cinematics bus otherwise it's definitely not that big of an upgrade. 60 FPS and 1080p has really become a ridiculously overrated standerd in gaming imo. The 60 FPS makes a difference in competitive online games with quick timing bit that's about it. It's not necessary in games like TLOU or Mario or Fallout or any other good single player driven game.

This time round, I'm definitely going to actually play the multiplayer and I never bought the DLC so that's how I'm gonna justify the purchase. Otherwise, damn. I really do think it's one of the all time great games. Lent my ps3 version to my buddy and I plan on spreading it around to all my friends until they've all experienced it.

And for the record, in terms of coffee, just milk. Don't get sugar in it. I also can't stand cream. It's weird/interesting visiting places in the US or even out west where they don't even have milk on the bar. 2% is best but I'll take skim even.

It's amazing how much getting a coffee somewhere and only having powdered creamer available will ruin your day.

Well, if it is ****** coffee to begin with the powdered creamer doesn't matter so much. In fact, sometimes when you hit the bad coffee/powdered synthetic substance combo it tastes different enough that you can trick your taste buds into believing you are sampling an entirely different type of beverage. And then, of course, about 5 microseconds later the "but this new beverage really sucks" kicks in.

I think I'm done with coffee

It's been three days now that I've switched out coffee for green tea and while I won't lie, it doesn't wake you up as much, I'm sleeping a lot better and don't need to be woken up by strong coffee

I'd recommend to it anyone who, like me, is very sensitive to caffeine

Bulletproof coffee. Now that's one I've never heard of. Then again, I'm not a coffee or tea drinker at all. Lol, often feels like I'm missing out on a big chunk of life not having the coffee debates or hanging around the coffee machine at work (or those crazy Timmy drive-thru lines in the morning).

I've played the original one, but never the remastered. What's it like?

That's why I drink my coffee black. Never disapointed by the wrong type of milk, or lack of sugur/cancerinducingsweetners.

btw, Bulletproof coffee sounds like a horrible idea; replace a meal with cafeine, fat and no actual nutrients.

I'm a fairly simple coffee drinker, and person really.

Nothing ruins the start of my work day quite like marching to the kitchenette and pouring a cup of watered down, improperly brewed coffee with grinds in it. I'm too out of it to notice right away too.

I think it's a Paleo thing.

It's been paleo circles I've mostly been exposed to it, but I think it's more a 'weight loss' thing.

CLA (from the grass-fed butter) and MCT are two things that are said to help convince your body to burn fat/stimulate the metabolism.
Plus it actually does satiate you pretty well. So helps for those people doing IF too.

But here's a little mini-rant on it from one of the paleo nutritionists I actually follow a little: (skip ahead to 31:34)

This paleo diet thing sounds ridiculous to me

It sounds like it isn't based on much other than "well it worked back in the day!"

Not exactly, the basic concept is...
Eat whole foods
Eliminate the foods that significant portions of the population have inflammatory responses to.
Re-introduce things to see what you actually react to - if you don't, feel free to eat it in moderation... if you do well, it's now a pain vs reward scenario
Continue eating whole foods and enjoy yourself.

Fair enough, I can get behind that description

What I read about it made it seem like it was "let's go back to eating like cavemen did!"

Well, with every concept there's fringe fanatics... and some people try going that far... but realistically it's not possible since you'd pretty much have to consider eating only in-season fruits and vegetables along with possibly making yourself a bit more nomadic?

And I mean you get little splinter groups, like Robb Wolf will be a more low carb extremist, Mark Sisson has his own take called Primal which generally includes dairy, Cordain's is the trademarked version which is relatively strict, and then I tend to follow (though a lot less lately) the more modern day variants which Balanced Bites and Whole 30(not technically paleo - just very compatible) sites are advocates of - where they're more a template to follow as a lifestyle than a strict diet.

But the general idea is lower carb, higher fat, and more protein centric diet than the standard western low fat/high carb food pyramid which has been shown to be highly inflammatory.

Hahaha

Then it sounds like I'm on one of those diets myself: very, very low carbs, high protein, medium fat intake is what I aim for

Vegan is probably the worst way to do it if you're going to the gym. Have to be 100% on top of your nutrition balances.
Also disagree with the 'ethical/moral' arguments considering how dirty soy farming is and how they pretty much help to prop up the supplements industry because of how many nutrients are not bioavailable until further up the food chain.

Not to mention that every vegan I know has such a pallid skin colour, it's just not attractive.

How would you tell if you're reacting to a certain food?

Well sometimes it's GI. Sometimes it's energy levels. Sometimes it's that general arthritic feeling in your bones.

One thing I've cut out on a regular basis, despite actually loving them is tomatoes (as well as white potatoes). I used to pretty much daily wake up with hands feeling so stiff and sore that first thing I'd do is take a couple Advil. This is regardless whether I'm regularly exercising or not.

Eliminate those, and no more Advil needed. Joints feel much happier.

There's the common link between acne and dairy as another example. Eliminate dairy (and sugars), skin complexion improves a hundredfold.

Now then some of it starts to get into placebo effect but if the net change is positive - then go for it.

But because we get so used to living with general aches and pains, we don't necessarily notice their presence until you remove the source and feel that much better.

(I know this sounds like a little like crazy talk, but just giving the general rundown)

I used to drink black coffee all day, 5 or 6 cups, or more. Now I have one in the morning, black, and sometimes one in the afternoon. I usually switch to tea in the afternoon, drinking either green, regular or decaf teas. No sodas anymore either, as the sugar and aspartame bug me (stomach). I drink lots of water too. No Kool-Aid either. HaHaHa.

Well it is unnatural to go vegan, we're omnivorous with the teeth to prove it. Ah well, more delicious meat for the rest of us!
