I was on page 26 and did not realize it had already reached page 27...I was responding to Fuhr's mention of the Ebola virus. MRSA is Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. I actually thought it meant "Medically Resistant" but either way it's a very strong form of mutated bacteria that can easily kill a human once it gets under the skin.

Staph keeps heading this way in greater numbers because staph has mutated so much over the years that humans cannot defeat it with their own immunity system. MRSA is the kind that can't even be defeated with (to my knowledge) regular antibiotics and sometimes surgery is needed to remove infected tissue, IF that works. I base these assertions based on an episode of Frontline that I watched - you may choose a different source of information.

Sad thing is, we're partially responsible for it. So many people run to the doctor every time they get the sniffles and demand antibiotics for nearly everything. The overuse of antibiotics has pretty much caused a lot of the nasty viruses out there to mutate/evolve faster than normal.

We're at a point where I doubt medical science can keep up. It's very, very scary...especially when there are strains out there right now that are 100% resistant to even the strongest antibiotics.

Mrsa is awful. It has almost ruined my life. I've been hospitalized a bunch of times because of it, and I go to the hospital 5-6 times a year from it for about 8 years now. When I first got it (from a really minor soccer injury) I almost needed my leg amputated. It haunted me for my entire gr. 8 year. I almost went bald because I kept getting infections on my scalp, I got them on my face, my legs, I couldn't think or move and I looked like a freak. Eventually they found some antibiotics which worked for me, and I've been getting better at keeping it at bay. I now usually just get it on my lower body and the doctor just needs to drain it. The infections or super painful (9/10 if they get bad) and they affect your mood, moral, and movement. It also has something like a 35% mortality rate.... So despite everything, I consider myself really fortunate.

It's strange...I've heard a few cases like that over the past few years on the news. It seems (so far) that most cases involve teenagers getting a minor cut/abrasion playing sports. Not sure if it's all a coincidence because locker rooms tend to have more germs, or if other factors are involved.

It's really scary...especially when something that nasty hits at such a young age. It's not fair, having to be extra cautious for most of your life because of something you didn't ask for an is difficult to control.

Hey so I was looking for some help and feel like you could be of service... I'm looking to build my own computer and don't know where to start lol. I don't really have a ton of money and I'm not looking to build anything crazy. Essentially I want to build a stream machine. Something I can use to stream console games through twitch and maybe some video editing for YouTube Videos. I won't be doing much gaming on it.. Maybe games like hearthstone smite maybe older games like Halo2V other then that nothing high intensity in terms of graphics. How cheap of a machine do you think I can make for those needs? I've been told an AMD build would be cheaper but like I said I know nothing about building computers or parts lol. Any help would be much appreciated!

First off, I highly recommend PCPartPicker. It's great for showing cheapest prices available, best compatibility, and price fluctuations. I used it for both PCs I've built.

If I were you, I'd go for something along these lines: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Jv9LwP.

It's about $800 and can handle streaming/low-end gaming with relative ease. Can personally vouch for the video card — I use that one and it's amazing. But you could probably downgrade it and the hard drive if you're looking to spend a bit less. AMD is definitely your best bet — not as expensive or powerful as an Intel chip, but will suit your purposes just fine and can always be upgraded at some future point in time if you see fit.

As for the process of building the PC, I used this guide and it helped me huge.

Usually video editing actually is more demanding than most games these days thanks to the fact that games are designed to the lowest common denominator (consoles).
You'd have to give an actual numeric range because 'not anything crazy' is going to mean different things to different people. Are we talking sub 500, sub 800, sub 1000?

I still actually like grabbing some info on video card comparisons from sites like Toms Hardware, and usually they have a monthly 'build a PC at these price point range' articles.
There's also this thread here on one of the subforums here at HF:

Are NCIX and Canada Computers good spots to pick up some parts? Or is newegg the best way too go

I find you almost have to shop around.
Some parts you'll find better deals at one, while others at another.

Partly because shipping rates vary a lot, also for some of the bits and bobs like cables that you'll need (since oem parts ship with almost none of those), amazon tends to be best I find.

Also, always put the part # into Future Shop and Best Buy since they'll price match +10% if they have it... got a couple pieces that way last time.

Summer school?
Just the one course. I had failed a course this past school year so I needed to make up some lost credits.

I loved taking courses in the summer, especially in University, because instead of 5 classes demanding my attention, I only ever did one or two during the summer, which meant that my grades for sumer courses were WAY better because I could devote more attention to them.

Basically: every course that I had a problem motivating myself to go to (2nd year stats requirement, I'm looking at you) I ended up doing in the summer because I knew if I tried to do them with a full course load, I would probably do poorly because I'd skip all the work for that class in favor of the more interesting classes. I'd much rather write 15 pages on an experimental social model or David Hume (yeah, that's right: I have an Ethics Philosophy minor) than work on a spreadsheet.

Ive uased all 3. All were great.

My biggest issue with Canada Computers is their advertising is rather shady...
'BUY THIS FOR $X'
.
.
.
'but only if you pay cash, jump through a flaming hoop, and send in the mail-in rebate'

But that's more an in-store problem. Their sales online tend to be more straightforward.

Ive only used in store for them. It seems like their standard/non-sale prices are better than other places. Could just be for what I was buying though.

I just remember more than once for the London and KW stores, seeing a flyer... going in to check it out and then finding the fine print way at the bottom of the in-store label about how it was only after cash discount and mail in rebate, etc etc.
Of course, I knew someone who worked at the London store and the shenanigans they played on employees there were not kosher either.

So might have been a local owner thing. I do have fond memories of the Ottawa store from a long time ago.
