This is the “Golf Edition”, is anyone else, in the Ottawa region, venturing out on a golf course tomorrow?

Tuesday morning, 8:30 am... Long Island locks, enjoying a tea and sitting by the water....

A guy comes by with a Nelo 7, K1, Kayak... Won all the medals at the 2021 Olympics.

Stability of 1... essentially it is siting on a 4 x 4 piece of wood on water and hoping you stay upright.

Looked f'ng sharp though. And in about 2 minutes he moved a solid 1 K without so much as trying.

Now I want one...

On a side note: It is illegal to be on the water without a life vest and a boating safety kit...bailing can/canister (or giant sponge...honest), a rope, a whistle and a flashlight... CT sells the kits.


Net f'ng weight 7 kg... 7 kg... wahhh.

Around noon, I was smelling burnt.. I went everywhere to see what. I though construction or something...NO.. from Quebec... My eyes are irritated.

Depends really, though you’re right not this early. We deal with Cali fires as well as Northen BC and the interior. Sometimes it’s early, sometimes later, sometimes not at all if the winds favour us on the tip of the island.

What we don’t tend to hear about is fires on the east coast and Quebec to be honest. Though I have been surprised to read about the flooding and tornados which were never really a thing when I was growing up In ODub. Seems like it may be a crazy year for fires this year.

They keep talking about a hot summer out here but we’ll see.

smoke we’re getting in the Ottawa region is most likely coming from the West, as that is the usual direction of the prevailing winds in this region…. And now that there is a significant fire in the Calabogie area, directly West of Ottawa, there is an intense smell of burning wood in Ottawa this morning

Evacuation notice extended for residents as forest fire burns near Calabogie, Ont.

Officials are asking people living around Centennial Lake to evacuate their homes as a forest fire burns in the area west of Calabogie, Ont. An evacuation order has been extended to Wednesday afternoon.

the prevailing winds, for the past few days have been from the north, and today they’re coming from the north east, which is not usual patterns .

And after posting this, there was a huge house fire just behind us last night & today it's pouring rain here including hail. What's up with all the crazy weather & over 400 fires burning out of control. Hopefully this rain puts some of them out in Callabogie which is not far from here & across the river in Quebec. Crazy times.
